JOB DETAILS:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Transport Planning & Optimization

  • Develop/publish daily inbound/outbound transport plans using Transport Management System (TMS).
  • Optimize routes, truck utilization, and turnaround time (TAT) to improve efficiency.
  • Ensure cost control (fuel, maintenance) and operational savings while meeting service targets.
  • Monitor OTIFNE (On-Time In-Full, No Errors) and CFR (Customer Fill Rate) metrics.

Fleet & Safety Management

    • Oversee fleet tracking via Control Room; report violations (e.g., speeding, night driving) within 48 hours.
    • Ensure fleet compliance with legal requirements (insurance, permits, load capacity).
    • Enforce safety policies (CARM, SFIPP, Hariss controls, government regulations).
    • Schedule timely maintenance to ensure vehicle roadworthiness (Asset Care).

Cost & Vendor Management

  • Negotiate with suppliers to reduce fleet maintenance costs and cost-per-case.
  • Monitor fuel management and weighbridge verification.

Team Leadership

  • Manage staff performance, discipline, and shift attendance.
  • Conduct training for drivers (traffic/safety compliance) and transport teams.
  • Support OHSE (Occupational Health, Safety, and Environment) compliance.

Customer & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Resolve customer queries and ensure satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with warehouse/transport teams for accurate, timely deliveries.
  • Align with departments to set distribution goals and strategies.

Reporting & Compliance

  • Review and correct deficiencies in performance reviews.
  • Prepare reports for executives/shareholders on transport operations.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Transport & Distribution or related field (Master’s in MBA preferred).
  • 5+ years in a similar role within a high-volume environment.

Key Skills:

    • Strong communication (verbal/written) and computer proficiency (MS Office).
    • Problem-solving, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
    • Knowledge of TMS, logistics dynamics, and office procedures.
