Job Title: Systems Analyst

About US:
The Petroleum Authority of Uganda (PAU) is a statutory body established under Section 9 of the Petroleum (Exploration, Development and Production Act 2013, and in line with the National Oil and Gas Policy for Uganda which was approved in 2008. The PAU’s mandate is to monitor and regulate the exploration, development and production, together with the refining, gas conversion, transportation and storage of petroleum in Uganda. This includes ensuring that petroleum operations in Uganda are carried out in accordance with the relevant laws, regulations, guidelines, statutes and in line with international best practice for the petroleum industry.
Job Summary: The main role is to provide a point of contact for the end-users, to ensure that the customers’ IT needs are fulfilled in accordance with the Authority’s standards and policies. The systems Analyst is responsible for reviewing and analyzing ICT systems, processes, and procedures and recommending improvements therein for use in electronic data processing.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Research and evaluate software configurations by gathering user requirement and input for software development and hardware configurations for effective infrastructure implementation
- Reviews in detail, systems and procedures employed in software design, engineering, database, and infrastructure development.
- Support users with application-related issues for the systems available to the PAU.
- Oversee issue resolution
- Analyzes the operations of systems and procedures and evaluates effectiveness
- Participate in the installation of new systems or in the modification of existing systems by preparing procedure manuals, designing forms and drawing layout plans
- Coordinate with users to determine requirements, communicate proposed changes, and obtain advance approval before modifications are implemented.
- Coordinate change management for new systems implemented in the PAU.
- Coordinate the implementation of approved systems, methods and procedures and provide assistance to affected activities during implementation of a system.
- Effectively test all changes before being placed into production and documents procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned from time to time.
- A Bachelor’s degree (Hons) in Computer science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or any ICT related field from an internationally recognized University.
- A Certification in any of the following areas Microsoft, Linux, Networking, Security, Database, Software Development and Development Operations (DevOps), Agile Project Management and any other related ICT certifications.

- Ability to work with minimal supervision, initiate action and assume responsibility for projects.
