Our client in the Energy Sector seeks to recruit a suitably qualified and results-oriented individual for the vacancy above.

As an electricity distributor, UMEME is licensed to distribute and supply electricity to customers. This mandate involves; the operation, maintenance and upgrade of electricity distribution infrastructure, electricity retail and provision of related services. The sector is regulated by the Electricity Regulatory Authority, whose mandate includes setting operating standards and appropriate end-user tariffs.

Job Purpose: The Supply Chain Project Clerk will be responsible for warehousing, distribution, or financial forecasting services or activities to limit costs and improve accuracy. Continually examines the existing procedures or opportunities for streamlining activities to meet product distribution needs. Directing the movement, storage and or processing of inventory.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review or update supply chain practices in accordance with new or changing environmental policies, standards, regulations or laws.
  • Recommend and map transportation routes to maximize economy by combining shipments or consolidating warehousing and distribution to different delivery points.
  • Develop material costs forecasts or standard cost lists.
  • Assess appropriate material handling equipment needs and staffing levels to load, unload, move, or store materials in line with best practices and global HSE standards.
  • Appraise vendor manufacturing ability through on-site visits and measurements.
  • Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers, vendors, or freight forwarders.
  • Monitor supplier performance to assess ability to meet quality and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor forecasts and quotas to identify changes or to determine their effect on supply chain activities.
  • Implement new or improved supply chain processes.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as procurement, engineering, and quality assurance, to identify and qualify new suppliers.
  • Document physical supply chain processes, such as workflows, cycle times, position responsibilities, or system flows.
  • Confer with supply chain planners to forecast demand or create supply plans that ensure the availability of materials or products.
  • Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of supply chain factors, such as product cost or quality.
  • Analyze inventories to determine how to increase inventory turns, reduce waste, or optimize customer service.
  • Participate in the coordination of projects, product line extensions or new product launches.
  • Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing and material requirements. planning, inventory control, warehousing, or receiving.
  • Design or implement supply chains that support business strategies adapted to changing market conditions, new business opportunities, or cost reduction strategies.
  • Design, implement, or oversee product take-back or reverse logistics programs to ensure products are recycled, reused, or responsibly disposed of.
  • Evaluate and select information or other technology solutions to improve tracking and reporting of materials or product distribution, storage, or inventory.
  • Develop procedures for coordination of supply chain management with other departments such as sales, marketing, finance, production or quality assurance.

Academic Qualifications:

  • Degree in Logistics / Supply Chain / Procurement management and a minimum of 3-5 years of working experience in the Energy sector.
