Samuel and Samantha Enterprises Limited, commonly known as S&S Ent Ltd, is a privately-owned company based in Uganda. Founded by Cuthbert and Olive Muhanguzi, the company was established on 23rd August 2007. Since its inception, S&S Ent Ltd has grown into a dynamic business with diverse operations, including a salon, washing bay, cyber café, supermarket, restaurant, and a private fresh produce bakery.
Job Summary: The Supermarket Manager at S&S Enterprise is a pivotal role responsible for driving operational excellence, enhancing customer satisfaction, and ensuring profitability within our retail division. By combining strong leadership with strategic management, the Supermarket Manager supports the enterprise’s overarching goals and upholds our commitment to quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement. Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Oversee daily store operations, ensuring that all functions—from merchandising and stocking to customer service—are executed efficiently.
- Monitor and manage store layout, visual merchandising, and overall store presentation to ensure an attractive shopping environment.
- Ensure that all operational processes comply with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards.
Financial Performance:
- Develop and manage the store budget, ensuring effective cost control and maximizing profitability.
- Monitor sales performance, analyze key performance indicators (KPIs), and implement strategies to drive revenue growth.
- Oversee cash management, including daily cash reconciliation, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
Inventory and Supply Chain Management:
- Manage inventory levels to avoid stock-outs and overstock situations, using data-driven forecasting and replenishment techniques.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to negotiate contracts, secure favorable terms, and maintain high-quality stock.
- Oversee the implementation of inventory control procedures and periodic audits to ensure data accuracy.
Customer Service and Sales Enhancement:
- Ensure that all customer interactions are handled with professionalism and that high levels of customer satisfaction are maintained.
- Address customer complaints and feedback promptly, implementing solutions to enhance the shopping experience.
- Develop and execute promotional strategies and sales initiatives to increase foot traffic and overall sales performance.
Staff Management and Development:
- Recruit, train, and supervise store staff, fostering a positive, team-oriented work environment.
- Schedule shifts, monitor attendance, and ensure that adequate staffing levels are maintained during peak and off-peak periods.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching, feedback, and professional development opportunities.
- Encourage cross-training and skill development among staff to enhance operational flexibility.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure adherence to all health and safety guidelines, including the proper handling of hazardous materials, fire safety, and emergency procedures.
- Maintain compliance with local labor laws and internal policies related to employee conduct, store operations, and customer service.
- Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions to promote a safe working environment.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field is required.
- Advanced certifications or training in retail management is an advantage.
Experience:
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in retail management or a similar role, with proven success in leading a retail operation.
- Demonstrated experience in managing a diverse team, handling inventory, and driving sales.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Experience with retail management systems and point-of-sale (POS) software.
