Founded by Cuthbert and Olive Muhanguzi, the company was established on 23rd August 2007. Since its inception, S&S Ent Ltd has grown into a dynamic business with diverse operations, including a salon, washing bay, cyber café, supermarket, restaurant, and a private fresh produce bakery.
Job Summary: The Supermarket Floor Supervisor at S&S Enterprise is responsible for overseeing the daily operations on the retail floor, ensuring an exceptional customer experience and efficient store performance. This role includes managing staff activities, maintaining product displays and inventory accuracy, and enforcing store policies and safety standards. The Floor Supervisor acts as the primary point of contact for resolving customer issues, coordinating with other departments, and supporting the Store Manager in achieving sales targets and operational excellence.
The Supermarket Floor Supervisor at S&S Enterprise plays a critical role in driving operational efficiency, ensuring excellent customer service, and managing the daily activities on the sales floor. By leading a diverse team, overseeing inventory and cash handling, and maintaining high operational standards, the Floor Supervisor contributes significantly to the overall success of the enterprise. Candidates for this role must demonstrate strong leadership, effective communication, and a proactive approach to managing the dynamic challenges of a retail environment.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Operational Supervision:
- Oversee the daily activities on the supermarket floor to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Monitor the overall presentation of the store, including cleanliness, merchandising, and product placement.
- Ensure that all operational procedures are followed, and that service levels meet the company’s standards.
Team Management and Staff Coordination:
- Supervise and support floor staff, including cashiers, sales associates, and stock clerks.
- Schedule shifts, delegate tasks, and ensure adequate staffing during peak periods.
- Provide on-the-job training and guidance to ensure that all team members understand their responsibilities and deliver high-quality customer service.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and coaching sessions to improve staff performance and encourage professional development.
Customer Service Excellence:
- Act as the primary point of contact for customer inquiries, complaints, and escalated issues on the sales floor.
- Ensure that customers receive prompt, courteous, and efficient service, and that their shopping experience is positive.
- Implement strategies to resolve customer issues swiftly and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction.
Inventory and Merchandising Management:
- Monitor inventory levels on the sales floor and ensure timely replenishment of products.
- Coordinate with the inventory management team to address stock discrepancies and conduct regular stock counts.
- Oversee visual merchandising efforts, ensuring that displays are attractive, compliant with company standards, and designed to maximize sales.
Compliance and Safety:
- Enforce adherence to company policies, health and safety regulations, and legal requirements on the sales floor.
- Conduct regular safety checks and address any hazards or compliance issues immediately.
- Ensure that all cash handling and point-of-sale procedures are followed precisely to maintain financial integrity and security.
Reporting and Communication:
- Prepare daily and weekly operational reports highlighting key metrics such as customer service issues, stock discrepancies, and staff performance.
- Communicate effectively with the Store Manager, reporting any significant issues or trends that require attention.
- Collaborate with other department supervisors to support cross-functional initiatives and operational improvements.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a post-secondary qualification in Business Administration, Retail Management, or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
- A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in a retail environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Proven track record of managing sales floor operations, customer service, and inventory control.
- Technical Proficiency:
- Proficiency in using point-of-sale (POS) systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and analysis.
- Familiarity with inventory management software and retail operational tools is an advantage.
