Founded by Cuthbert and Olive Muhanguzi, the company was established on 23rd August 2007. Since its inception, S&S Ent Ltd has grown into a dynamic business with diverse operations, including a salon, washing bay, cyber café, supermarket, restaurant, and a private fresh produce bakery.

 

Job Summary:  The Supermarket Data Clerk at S&S Enterprise is responsible for accurately capturing, processing, and managing data related to daily store operations. This role plays a critical part in ensuring that all transactional, inventory, and sales data are recorded and maintained with precision, facilitating effective decision-making and operational efficiency. The Data Clerk supports various departments by providing timely and accurate information that underpins key business processes, such as inventory management, financial reconciliation, and performance reporting.

 

The Supermarket Data Clerk at S&S Enterprise is a vital role that supports the efficient and accurate management of daily store operations through meticulous data capture and analysis. By ensuring that all transactional and operational data is recorded and maintained with precision, the Data Clerk contributes significantly to informed decision-making and overall store performance. Candidates for this role must demonstrate strong technical, analytical, and communication skills, coupled with a high level of integrity and reliability.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Data Entry and Verification:

  • Accurately enter data from daily transactions, including sales, inventory movements, and customer interactions, into designated systems (e.g., Excel spreadsheets, HRIS, or custom databases).
  • Verify the accuracy of data by cross-referencing with physical documents (e.g., receipts, delivery notes) and electronic records.
  • Perform regular audits of entered data to identify and correct discrepancies.

Report Generation and Analysis:

  • Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and annual reports based on collected data, including sales figures, inventory levels, and customer service metrics.
  • Utilize Excel functions (e.g., PivotTables, SUMIFS, COUNTIFS) to automate calculations and summarize data.
  • Provide insights and recommendations to supervisors based on data trends and performance metrics.

Database Management:

  • Maintain and update the central database for store operations, ensuring that all records are current and accurately reflect ongoing activities.
  • Organize and archive historical data for easy retrieval during audits or management reviews.
  • Support the implementation of digital filing systems and data backup procedures.

Coordination with Operational Teams:

  • Work closely with cashiers, floor supervisors, and inventory managers to ensure timely data capture from all operational touchpoints.
  • Communicate any data anomalies or issues to the relevant department heads and assist in resolving them.
  • Participate in daily briefings to understand operational priorities and adjust data collection practices accordingly.

Compliance and Security:

  • Adhere to company policies regarding data confidentiality and security.
  • Ensure that all data handling processes comply with relevant legal standards and internal controls, including Ugandan labor laws and ILO guidelines.
  • Protect sensitive information by following established protocols for data entry, storage, and sharing.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required; an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Management, or a related field is preferred.

Experience:

  • Prior experience in data entry, data management, or a similar clerical role in a retail or fast-paced environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with retail operations and point-of-sale (POS) systems is an advantage.

  • Demonstrates exceptional accuracy in data entry and record-keeping, ensuring minimal errors and discrepancies.
