JOB DETAILS:
Job Summary:
The Supermarket Attendant is responsible for ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers by maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked store. This role involves assisting customers, operating cash registers, restocking shelves, and performing general store maintenance duties. The ideal candidate is customer-focused, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Service:
o Greet customers warmly and assist them in locating products.
o Respond to customer inquiries and resolve complaints in a professional manner.
o Provide product information, including pricing, promotions, and availability.
Cash Handling and Checkout:
o Operate cash registers, scanners, and other point-of-sale (POS) systems.
o Process payments, including cash, credit/debit cards, and mobile payments.
o Handle returns, exchanges, and refunds according to store policies.
Stocking and Merchandising:
o Restock shelves, displays, and refrigerated sections with products.
o Ensure products are properly labeled, priced, and organized.
o Rotate stock to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
Store Maintenance:
o Maintain a clean and tidy store environment, including sweeping, mopping, and sanitizing surfaces.
o Empty trash bins and ensure the store is free of clutter.
o Monitor and report any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor.
Inventory Management:
o Assist in receiving and unpacking deliveries.
o Conduct regular inventory checks and report low stock levels.
o Follow proper procedures for handling damaged or expired goods.
Compliance:
o Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
o Ensure compliance with health and sanitation standards.
Qualifications:
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience: Previous retail or customer service experience is a plus but not required.
Skills:
o Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
o Basic math skills for handling cash transactions.
o Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask.
o Attention to detail and organizational skills.
o Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy items (up to 25-50 lbs).
Work Environment:
• The role involves working in a retail setting with frequent interaction with customers and team members.
