JOB DETAILS:
Main Purpose of the Job
To recruit, screen, and consent eligible study participants, conduct interviews, review records, and track participants while ensuring adherence to study protocols and ethical standards.
Key Outputs:
• Eligible study participants identified, screened, and recruited.
• Data collection tools translated, tested, and reviewed.
• Adherence to study protocol and procedures.
• Health facility registers reviewed, and data accurately captured electronically.
• Adverse events documented and reported.
• Follow-up interviews conducted for missed appointments.
• Quality control processes implemented.
• Study data queries resolved.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Participate in study training and tool preparation (translation, testing).
2. Identify, recruit, and obtain informed consent from study participants.
3. Conduct face-to-face and phone-based interviews and enter data electronically.
4. Handle serious adverse events (SAEs) and report them to the supervisor immediately.
5. Review health facility registers for relevant data and enter it into electronic systems.
6. Track participants and conduct follow-ups for missed appointments.
7. Document participant reimbursements and securely handle data forms.
8. Collaborate with the Data Manager to resolve data queries.
9. Participate in team meetings and quality control processes.
10. Maintain participant confidentiality and secure all documentation.
11. Report challenges and adhere strictly to study protocols and procedures.
Person Specifications
Minimum Academic Qualifications:
• Diploma in Midwifery, Comprehensive Nursing, or General Nursing.
• Must be registered and hold a valid annual practicing license with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives’ Council.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Health Sciences, Nursing, or a related field is an added advantage.
Required Experience:
• Minimum 2 years of experience conducting quantitative interviews in research studies.
• Experience working with adolescent girls, young women, and trans populations is preferred.
• Training in Good Clinical Practice and Human Subjects Protection.
• Must reside near the study site.
Key Skills:
• Strong communication skills in English and a relevant local language (Luo, Ateso, Lumasaba, Kiswahili, or Jopadhola).
• Proficiency in electronic data systems (e.g., ODK, RedCAP, KoboCollect, or Survey CTO).
• Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Teamwork and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and under pressure.
• Attention to detail, flexibility, and commitment to quality.
• Nonjudgmental attitude and humanitarian values.
