The Senior Systems Engineer – Virtualization acts under general directions and with limited supervision with the ability to provide technical leadership. Using business driven requirements, plans and designs enterprise systems supporting the Digital Workplace end user computing environment including the evaluation and implementation of hardware and software products and engineers and tests technology solutions. Monitors the day to day performance of the infrastructure and may work with project teams on the integration of new systems. Creates strategies and develops resolutions for complex problems, incidents, and outage situations. Primary focus will be towards the Citrix Virtualization environment supporting a hybrid setup of dynamic/persistent virtual desktop deployment and application virtualization.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Manages the evaluation and implementation of new products and technologies which typically cover a broad variety of the Digital Employee Experience.
• Researches and recommends innovative technologies and approaches for enhancing the Digital Employee Experience while adhering to technical or budgetary constraints.
• Analyzes system requirements, including identifying interactions and appropriate interfaces between affected components and sub systems.
• Proactively plans capacity of platforms and applications.
• Obtains and evaluates information on factors such as reporting formats required, costs, and security needs to determine software and hardware configuration.
• Participates in software system testing and validation procedures, programming and documentation.
• May participate in projects including preparing project plans, assigning tasks, monitoring statuses, coordinating efforts, validating team recommendations, integrating efforts into a comprehensive strategy and delivering results on time.
• Writes and/or reviews system specifications, including output requirements, flow charts and technical diagrams.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• IP network design practices and principles with emphasis on end user computing
• Citrix NetScaler configuration and administration
• Windows Server and Workstation Operating Systems.
• Hardware configurations and components for desktops and servers.
• Security best practices for client and server systems including Windows and macOS platforms.
• System monitoring and event analysis.
• Virtualization concepts and technologies including Citrix, VMware, and Application layering
• Citrix Cloud, Azure VDI
• Familiar with Storage Area Networks and Cloud storage solutions
• Operating systems, management tools, 3rd party solutions, and hardware (desktops and servers) including Windows and macOS.
• Server/desktop image creation and related processes and procedures.
• 3rd level support for resolution of compatibility and performance issues.
• Server provisioning and monitoring using industry-leading management tools.
• Knowledge of PowerShell scripting, Automation, GPO, etc. is a plus

EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field; and

5-7 years of experience in Systems Engineering; or

Equivalent combination of education and experience.
