Duration: one year consultancy contract

Background:
Fiber Foods is an impact driven company which creates sustainable, fair, equal and scalable value chains in Uganda together with the market. The first value chain developed is from immature dehydrated jackfruit. The young jackfruit is sourced from smallholder farmers by Ugandan SME suppliers and processed in local processing hubs before exported to Europe. The exported product, PrimeJack, is sold to food companies who use it as an ingredient for meat substitutes and hybrid meat products.
Fiber Foods is currently developing more services and value chains in Uganda.

Job summary:
We are looking for a motivated, communicative, pro-active multitasker to take on the role as sourcing manager. As the sourcing manager, you are responsible for the managing and organising the sourcing of our young jackfruits and all the operations around it. Moreover, it involves managing strategic projects in the field, including setting up research projects and rolling out (training) programmes.

Responsibilities
The planning and organising of the year-round young jackfruit sourcing with our suppliers
• Implementing and developing sourcing timelines and schedules for suppliers and transporters.
• Troubleshooting during weekly harvests.
• Evaluation of the harvests and assuring standards and agreements are met.
• Stakeholder management with suppliers, transporters and other partners
• Overseeing contracts and purchase orders
• Approving invoices in-line with processing budgets
• Managing and tracking sourcing and logistics budgets
Onboarding new suppliers
• Contracting
• Developing a learning and scaling plan
• Organise training in the necessary fields
Responsibility of managing field traceability
• Assuring traceability requirements are being met by partners
• Working together with the app developers Beeholder of our traceability tool, Farmer Unite, to 1) make sure its functioning properly, 2) develop and implement new functionalities for the application

• Conduct field audits: set up field work, analyse data, draft reports and provide feedback to suppliers
Assist in the management of strategic projects
• Assist with proposal writing
• Set-up and manage research projects in the field (surveys, interviews, quantitative and qualitative data analysis)
• Develop and roll out (training) programmes for social and environmental impact
• Reporting to donors

Qualifications and competencies:
• Minimum of three years of working experience
• Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, business development or a related field or equivalent industry experience
• Working experience in sourcing
• Experience in setting up research projects and (training) programmes in the field
• Qualitative and quantitative research set up and analysis
• Training development
• Rolling out field programmes
• Report writing
• Willingness to travel to the field when necessary
• Strong organisational, analytical and communication skills

• Proven ability to take ownership of multiple projects

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to quickly build relationships with internal and external partners
• Optimistic, reliable, and flexible attitude
