JOB DETAILS:
Job Summary:
Organize learning experiences in the Skills Lab ensuring that all students are engaged and practical skills are passed on.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee the daily operations of the Skills Lab, ensuring a safe, organized, and conducive learning environment.
• Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all Skills Lab equipment, materials, and supplies, ensuring timely procurement and replenishment.
• Ensure all Lab equipment is functioning properly and address maintenance issues promptly.
• Provide hands-on guidance and supervision to students during lab sessions, promoting competency-based learning.
• Assist Instructors/Tutors in designing practical exercises and scenarios that reflect real-world clinical settings.
• Participate in all teaching /learning activities in the school.
• Prepare and manage the Skills Lab budget, ensuring optimal utilization of available resources.
• Ensure the Skills Lab complies with accreditation and regulatory standards set by all regulatory bodies.
• Perform any other duties assigned or incidental to the role.
Position Requirements (Job and Person Specifications):
• A bachelor’s degree in nursing or Midwifery.
• Must have progressed through academic ranks: Certificate/ Diploma → Bachelor’s degree in Nursing/Midwifery.
• Master’s degree in nursing/Midwifery or any health-related field is an added advantage.
• A valid practicing license from the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council (UNMC).
• At least 5 years of professional experience in Nursing or Midwifery practice.
• Teaching experience in a Nursing/Midwifery training institution is an added advantage.
• Experience in simulation-based teaching or skills lab management is an added advantage.
• Strong clinical and practical Nursing/Midwifery skills.
• Proficiency in using simulation equipment and teaching aids.
• Excellent organizational and managerial skills.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with students, staff, and stakeholders.
• Passionate about teaching and mentoring students.
• Detail-oriented and able to work under minimal supervision.
• Committed to professional ethics and continuous learning.
• A team player with a collaborative mindset.
