Description
Shopify is seeking a skilled facilitator and confident Shopify ambassador to deliver high-impact learning experiences to Shopifolk. The primary focus for this role will be to make an impact by delivering our on-boarding programming and ongoing training workshops remotely as well as in person (hopefully in the near future!).
Who This Role Is For
As a Shopify Onboarding Facilitator, you understand how electrifying and fulfilling great learning experiences are, and you firmly believe that every person is capable of development, given the effort. You are passionate about working with people – when they are ready, you are there to bring Shopify's world-class standards to life. You are keenly interested in Shopify’s culture, you adapt quickly to new environments, and people find you approachable and easy to relate to. You will be bringing all these skills together weekly during our on-boarding programming. This programming includes STARTUP, a three-day experience for all new Shopifolk, and RnD Discovery, an experience designed to introduce new hires in RnD to Shopify's tech stack, product, and customers. More programs might be included in your portfolio as we grow and evolve. In these experiences, you confidently facilitate large and small group sessions remotely and connect with adult learners asynchronously over Slack.
This does not necessarily mean being a high-energy extrovert all the time; we are looking for someone who can connect with diverse audiences and adapt to – and direct – the energy during a session. You are ready to jump in and facilitate existing content while also being adaptable to iterate and develop new content when needed, sometimes with little preparation. In addition to this, you will connect with senior Shopifolk in the region to build relationships and assist with developing a strategy for having local leaders play a prominent role in Startup.
Requirements:
- Experience delivering highly effective group training to adults using various styles (i.e. presentation, facilitation, and storytelling)
- Comfort with delivering learning on a wide variety of topics; confidence in supporting learners as they work through technical or complex learning material even if you are not a subject-matter expert yourself
- Comfort facilitating or teaching using online tools ( ie. Google meet)
- Experience teaching or in adult education
- Superb and expressive communication, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to develop and curate learning content when needed
- Passion for human development and mentoring others
- An exemplar of a growth mindset; a fast learner who can develop context quickly and translate your own understanding to participants clearly. Interest in defining and exemplifying Shopify’s learning culture
- Comfort using data and feedback to iterate quickly
- Ability to support logistics to execute seamless learning experiences
- Ability to travel occasionally to deliver training
- Fluency in English is a must
Would Be Great If You Have:
- Experience working with culturally diverse audiences across your region, and designing/adapting content to meet specific cultural differences
- Experience delivering training on technical topics such as software engineering, data science, user experience design and/or product management
- Subject-matter expertise or prior experience working in one of the technical training topics lists above
- Learning theory, instructional design, and content creation
- Graphic design, web design, or video creation
