About Organisation:
Center for Food and Adequate Living Rights Food Rights (CEFROHT) is an indigenous not-for-profit legal advocacy and action-research organization using a Human Rights-Based Approach to promote food, and adequate living rights. CEFROHT’s mission is to use legal tools for food justice, and adequate living through integrated programs; that is, Social justice and Strategic Litigation, Advocacy, and Community Empowerment.
Job Summary: Support the technical mainstreaming of nutrition in all CEFROHT domain areas, including Right to Adequate Food, Human Capital Development, Food Safety, Food Sovereignty, Nutrition and Public Health, Food Security and Climate Change, and other Livelihood rights, by offering technical support in nutrition research, policy advocacy, and program implementation.
- The Senior Nutritionist will support program and project implementation, advance evidence-based policy advocacy, and advance a human rights-based approach to food, nutrition, and health.
- Support the Head of Program for Advocacy, Campaigns, and Partnerships in the specific following areas
- Nutrition research, policy analysis, and evidence generation.
- Designing and implementation of nutrition and public health programs including food policies and regulations.
- Advocacy initiatives on nutrition, food systems, and non-communicable diseases.
- Promotion of a human rights-based approach to nutrition and food systems
SCOPE
- The position is key to CEFROHT’s mission to advance social justice in food, nutrition, and public health systems. It contributes to creating an enabling food policy environment that promotes, respects, and fulfills the right to adequate food and nutrition.
- The Senior Nutritionist will technically support efforts in addressing diet- related Non- Communicable diseases and malnutrition in all its forms. The role integrates research, advocacy, and program implementation to influence laws and regulations, policy and practice at local, national, regional, and global levels.
- The position will also support evidence generation, policymakers’ engagement, and community- based interventions while strengthening nutrition governance, accountability, and public
- awareness. The role also contributes to advancing CEFROHT’s strategic objectives through partnerships, capacity building, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
- This position reports to the Head of Advocacy, Campaigns, and Partnerships Program
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Program, the senior nutritionist is required to perform the following functions:
- Support and conduct research on nutrition, public health, and food systems to inform food policy and advocacy initiatives.
- Provide technical expertise in the design, implementation, and evaluation of nutrition and public health programs.
- Support the development and analysis of policies, laws, and strategies related to nutrition and food systems.
- Implement advocacy initiatives on key nutrition issues, including unhealthy diets and non- communicable diseases.
- Develop policy briefs, research reports, advocacy materials, and publications.
- Coordinate and oversee implementation of nutrition-related projects and ensure alignment with the organizational goal, mission, and vision.
- Engage with stakeholders, including government institutions, CSOs, academia, and development partners.
- Support integration of nutrition into food policy, food law, and climate-related programs.
- Contribute to proposal development, fundraising, and resource mobilization.
- Provide technical support in monitoring, evaluation, and learning for nutrition programs and advocacy activities.
- Facilitate capacity-building initiatives, trainings, and community engagement activities.
- Support media engagement and public communication on nutrition-related issues.
- Represent CEFROHT in national, regional, and international nutrition and public health forums.
Key Performance Indicators
- To facilitate tracking of performance during the year, the following performance indicators have been identified and shall be agreed upon:
- Quality and number of nutrition research outputs (reports, policy briefs, publications).
- Effectiveness and impact of nutrition programs implemented.
- Contribution to policy influence and advocacy outcomes.
- Implementation of successful advocacy campaigns on nutrition and public health issues.
- Timely delivery of project activities and outputs.
- Level of stakeholder engagement and partnerships established.
- Quality and reach of capacity-building and community engagement initiatives.
- Resources mobilized through proposals and partnerships.
- Integration of nutrition into broader CEFROHT program areas.
- Timely preparation and submission of technical and program reports
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of a Master’s degree in Nutrition or Public Health Nutrition.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition.
- Dieticians are encouraged to apply
Experience
- A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in nutrition-related initiatives, public health, research, nutrition policy advocacy, and policy engagement
- Demonstrated experience in designing and implementing nutrition programs and interventions. Strong background in research, data analysis, and technical writing.
- Experience in human rights-based programming and social accountability approaches is an added advantage.
