Key Responsibilities:
Project planning and Implementation
• Lead planning, organizing and implementation of the nutrition project activities and its budgeting, in close collaboration with the Nutrition Officers and Nutrition Assistants ensuring all activities are carried out on carried out and that nutrition programs are evidence-based and implemented i comprehensively and cost-effectively.
• Collaborate with Food Assistance Manager, and Senior Nutrition Officers to ensure a high standard of program quality and compliance with donor requirements.
• Provide technical guidance to World Vision staff, Volunteers on all nutrition-related activities.
• Ensure close coordination with other humanitarian actors and donors in nutrition and food security (e.g. WFP, UNHCR, MoH and other NGOs).
• Track budget performance and advise management on budget-related matters, responsible for the appropriate use of materials and assets.
• Track program indicator performance and ensure the project meets agreed performance outcomes.
Capacity Building and Training
• Take lead in trainings for all Project staff on project tools, IMAM guidelines, implementation approaches and Provide Technical support for training of Volunteers where necessary.
• Take lead in development/adoption of training curriculum/manuals for project staff, partners and key stakeholders including community-based structures.
• Participate in mobilization of and conducting trainings to build capacities on Nutrition sensitive and Nutrition specific models.
• Provide mentoring and coaching to all project staff and ensure all Nutrition staff receive participate in capacity-building opportunities.
• Liaise with the National Office technical specialists on staff capacity building in Nutrition and health programming
Projection Monitoring, reporting and evaluation
• In liaison with the Project Monitoring, Evaluation and Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Officer, develop a MEAL plan that outlines Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), data collection methods, and timelines for monitoring project progress and measuring outcomes.
• Regularly monitor project activities, milestones, and deliverables to ensure they align with the project plan and are progressing as scheduled. Use tools like progress reports, dashboards, and timelines to track performance.
• Carry out site visits and regular reviews of project implementation to observe activities in real-time, identify challenges, and gather insights for improvements.
• Review and submit to the Food Assistance Manager reports (e.g., weekly, monthly, or quarterly) on project progress, challenges, and achievements, providing updates to stakeholders, donors, and senior management.
• Contribute to periodic evaluations (baseline or end-of-project) to assess overall project success, capture lessons learned, and recommend improvements for future projects.
Staff management
• Oversee the recruitment process, ensuring the selection of qualified team members and providing a smooth onboarding experience to integrate new staff effectively.
• Assign tasks based on staff skills and project needs, and provide regular guidance and oversight to ensure tasks are completed on time and to a high standard.
• Regularly assess staff performance, provide constructive feedback, and set clear goals to help team members improve and meet project objectives.
• Identify skills gaps and organize training or development opportunities to enhance staff capabilities and ensure they are equipped to contribute effectively to the project.
• Foster a positive work environment by recognizing achievements, addressing concerns, and promoting teamwork to maintain high morale and productivity.
• Address any interpersonal issues or conflicts within the team promptly, providing support and mediation to maintain a harmonious and collaborative work atmosphere.
• Ensure all staff, Volunteers adhere to World Vision’s safeguarding policy and behaviour protocols.
Partnership and networking
• Identify and build strategic linkages, relations, collaborations and networks with partners and other stakeholders in implementation of the Nutrition Project at the District level.
• Participate and represent WVU in key donor engagements and technical working forums at district, region and National level when applicable
• Point of contact for consultation on issues to do with the WFP Nutrition Project
• Work closely with District Health Office ensuring the Nutrition Project aligns to District and Ministry of Health guidelines and ensuring appropriate referrals.
Minimum education, training and experience requirements to qualify for the position
• Experience in Community Based Nutrition Programming and Implementation in line with the Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition guidelines.
• Experience implementing Targeted Supplementary Feeding Programme
• Experience in Maternal and Child Health and Nutrition Programme
• English language proficiency and professional license is added advantage
• In-depth expertise in nutrition principles, including the management of acute malnutrition and conducting comprehensive nutrition surveys and assessments.
• Proven experience in project cycle management, overseeing all stages from planning and implementation to monitoring and evaluation.
• Thorough understanding of WFP and donor guidelines, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.
• Strong proficiency in nutrition project planning, coordination, and execution, ensuring effective implementation and measurable outcomes.
• Experienced in delivering training and providing mentorship, fostering the development of high-performing teams.
• Expert in budget development and management, ensuring financial accountability and adherence to donor requirements.
• Proficient in utilizing HIS/HMIS databases, leveraging data to inform decision-making and improve program outcomes.
• Skilled in research, analysis, and report writing, producing high-quality reports that communicate key findings and recommendations.
• Passionate about capacity building, actively working to strengthen staff skills and organizational capabilities.
• Highly organized with exceptional time-management skills, effectively handling competing priorities to meet deadlines and ensure program success.
