University Research Co., LLC (URC)
Established in 1965, URC offers a range of technical assistance to strengthen health and social systems and service quality by empowering communities and health workers to identify and scale up locally appropriate solutions to critical problems.  URC focuses on finding ways to deliver proven approaches to health care problems, applying quality improvement (QI) methods and conducting operations research to tailor those approaches to various settings. Recognizing implementation barriers unique to each setting, we train local managers and service providers to strengthen health systems, integrate system elements, and bring improvements to scale.

Background
URC seeks qualified candidates to support the anticipated USAID-Uganda Multi-sectoral Nutrition, Maternal and Child Health Activity. The aim of the activity is to build local capacity, introduce innovative solutions and to enhance government leadership to achieve sustainable gains in the field of RMNCH+N.

Interests and experience in the fields of:
  • Lead technical assistance to the Government of Uganda and partners in the field of Nutrition.
  • Strengthen the coordination capacity of the Government to effectively coordinate Nutrition agenda at the national and sub national levels.
  • Support development of nutrition policies, strategies, guidelines and action plans.
  • Provide technical assistance to the relevant technical working groups and core teams.
  • Build capacity of relevant staff of the district health team.
  • Engage with partners to effectively coordinate nutrition agenda of the USAID funded RMNCH+N project.
  • Prepare technical reports, briefs and other needed technical documents.
  • Represent the organization in all the relevant forums at district, regional and national levels.
  • Support local associations, communities, CSOs and other grassroot players in advancing nutrition agenda at the community and family levels.
  • Support creation of demand and awareness at various levels on topics related to nutrition.
  • Any other relevant responsibility assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications 
  • Doctor of medicine with Masters degree in nutrition or public health
  • Minimum of 3 years’ professional experience; prior experience with USAID or other donor-funded projects preferred
  • Excellent communication skills and strong inter-personal skills
  • Ability to work independently and with team members and partners at all levels
  • Work experience with local and international partners in Uganda, including both private and public partners
  • Fluency in written and spoken English
