Job Title: Senior Mechanic

Reports To: Chief of Garage

• Mechanic, Welder, Body Repairer, Painter and Tire Repair Technician

SUMMARY OF THE ROLE:

The Senior Mechanic is responsible for maintaining and efficiently repairing vehicles assigned to their team, ensuring they remain in good condition and usable for as long as possible.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Vehicle Inspection and Diagnosis:
   • Receive breakdown sheets from the Chief of Garage and inspect vehicle engines and mechanical/electrical components, to accurately diagnose problems.
   • Use diagnostic equipment and software to identify issues.
2. Repair and Maintenance:
   • Assign mechanics and helpers or other specialists for the repair or maintenance of vehicles.
   • Check that the repair and maintenance schedule is respected.
   • Conduct routine maintenance work, such as battery checks, electrical system maintenance, and software updates.
3. Team Coordination and Reporting:
   • Organize work meetings with garage teams under supervision, ensuring effective communication.
   • Develop weekly repair and maintenance reports for all vehicles.
4. Customer Interaction and Advisory:
   • Provide motorists with advice on the proper use and maintenance of their vehicles.
   • Schedule future maintenance sessions and explain the importance of regular maintenance.
5. Safety and Compliance:
   • Ensure all safety protocols are followed, especially when working with high-voltage systems.
   • Stay updated with the latest safety regulations and guidelines on the respective vehicles.
6. Continuous Improvement:
   • Stay informed about the latest technologies and advancements in our respective vehicles.
   • Participate in ongoing training and certification programs.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

Educational Qualifications:

• Diploma (A1) in Mechanics.
• Certification from a vocational school or completion of an apprenticeship.
• Specialized training or certification in Man, Mercedes-Benz & SHACMAN brands is highly desirable.
• Valid Driving License.

Working Experience:

• At least 7 years of relevant working experience as a senior mechanic.
• Excellent knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and electronic components.
• Working knowledge of vehicle diagnostic systems and methods.
• Ability to handle various tools (e.g, pliers) and heavy equipment (e.g, lift).
• Excellent physical condition.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
