JOB DETAILS:
The objective of this post typically revolves around higher-level responsibilities such as financial analysis, strategic planning, compliance, and team leadership.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
• Analyze financial data to provide insights into budget performance, identify trends, and support decision-making processes with meaningful reports and forecasts.

 

 

• Ensure that all financial practices comply with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, including tax codes, accounting principles, and financial reporting requirements.

 

 

• Support the FAM in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, comparing actual performance with the budget and making necessary adjustments or recommendations for cost control and revenue enhancement.
• Implement and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets, reduce financial risks, and prevent fraud or errors in financial records.
• Oversee audit processes (internal and external), ensure all necessary documentation is provided, and work closely with auditors to address any issues. Additionally, manage tax planning and compliance for the organization.
• Supervise accountants and Fin/Admin Officers, providing guidance, training, and development opportunities to improve their skills and performance.

• Continuously evaluate and improve accounting processes and systems to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Work closely with other departments (e.g., finance, operations, HR) to provide financial insights, support planning, and ensure alignment between financial and operational goals.
• Assist the FAM in long-term financial planning, identifying potential risks and opportunities, and providing strategic recommendations to management.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
• A recognized professional designation in Accounting or Internal Auditing (ACCA, CPA, CFA, CMA, CGA, CIA or CISA) or Masters in relevant field is an added advantage.
• Minimum 6 years’ experience working in Finance and Accounting.
• Proficiency in the use QuickBooks Accounting Software

• Experience working with international development partners, international nongovernmental organizations (INGOs) and donors (in particular UNHCR experience) is an asset.
