Reports To: General Manager (with a dotted line to the Group Internal Auditor)
Grade: 4

Key Responsibilities
Tax Compliance (50%)
• Prepare tax payment schedules and manage the company’s tax account.
• Complete quarterly and annual tax reports.

• Organize and update the company’s tax database.
• Prepare and maintain working papers supporting tax payments and returns.
• Analyze accounting data impacting the company’s tax position.

• Review tax systems data and resolve tax-related issues promptly.

• Monitor changes in tax laws and regulations, advising management on compliance adjustments.
• Respond to tax inquiries and provide necessary certificates.

• Oversee tax planning and engage with stakeholders, including handling matters with the tax authority and tax tribunal.
Finance Compliance Role (40%)
• Investigate losses and recommend corrective actions.
• Review business procedures to identify and implement key controls.

• Assist in internal audits, addressing areas of non-compliance with SOPs and best practices.
• Execute audits as per the Group Internal Audit Department's plan.

• Follow up on audit recommendations and address external auditor concerns.

• Compile audit findings and ensure closure with HODs and management.
Other Management Functions (10%)
• Participate in the budgeting process by providing cost center inputs.
• Identify budget variances and recommend actions to achieve financial objectives.
• Review payment processes for budget conformity.
• Support in preparing monthly management accounts.
• Participate in implementing finance-related projects.

Qualifications and Competencies
Minimum Qualification:
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a business-related discipline.
• Completion of CPA or ACCA.
• Membership in professional bodies such as ICPAU, IIA, or ISACA is an advantage.
Minimum Experience:
• At least 5 years of experience in tax compliance and reporting.
• Relevant experience with Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and statutory bodies is highly preferred.

• Prior experience in a manufacturing environment (FMCG) or a “Big 4” audit firm is advantageous.
• Exposure to URA tribunal scenarios is a plus.

Competencies:
• Strong analytical skills to interpret complex tax legislation and apply it to practical scenarios.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in preparing tax-related documents.
• Proficiency in tax software, accounting systems, and ERP systems.
• Business acumen and proactive risk mitigation skills.
