Job Summary:   The Senior Corporate  Relationship Manager – Government and NGOs is responsible for growing the bank’s revenues and balance sheet, client revenue, brand warmth and visibility through development of corporate client relationships, supporting of client operations using Bank products and solutions to further the achievement of bank’s business objectives.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Developing new business opportunities for the assigned Sector by proactively and consistently engaging corporate clients in the assigned sector to help grow the Bank’s revenue and balance sheet objectives.
  • Working closely with the entire branch and regional office staff to maintain a high degree of efficiency, responsiveness and focus thereby enhancing the quality of  service   offered to the clients.
  • Act as the main strategic contact point for all corporate customers in the respective sector and t o work closely with these customers, regularly engaging and planning for them for the mutual benefit of both the customer and the bank.
  • Ensure each borrowing customer is visited/engaged at least once a quarter.
  • Identify new product opportunities through local market intelligence and recommending to senior management.
  • Marketing the   bank’s    service capabilities; looking   for   ways   to   enhance   and   deepen   the relationships with sector clients.
  • Proactively Cross   selling of bank’s   products and services to corporate clients e.g., Cash Management, Trade Finance, Treasury, Investments] to increase the Equity Bank share of wallet.
  • Support with the review of corporate files originated by Credit Managers/Officers & Business Growth and Development Managers [BGDM] to ensure accuracy of information and adequacy of proposed facilities/financing structure before recommending to the Credit Risk department.
  • Monthly monitoring, review, and maintenance of the Portfolio at Risk in your chosen sector, ensuring agreed action plans are implement ed with the engagement of clients so as to minimize the Bank’s loss.
  • Support the Branch teams with the completion of KYC for corporate clients and follow up with the clients for any missing information.
  • Ensure high asset quality is maintained for all facilities by proactively reviewing approved limits and taking remedial actions and by deepening  customer relationships.
  • Ensure all Corporate facilities are utilized and maintained within sanctioned limits and any excesses noted are promptly reported and remedial action recommended.
  • Handle all requests for short term excesses in liaison with Credit Risk unit and ensure proper authorization is obtained.
  • Ensure proper co-ordination of efforts with Branches, audit, credit risk & administrate on and banking operations.
  • Working together   with the Credit Managers/Officers & Business Growth and Development Managers to ensure loan instalments are dully deducted when due.
  • Daily monitoring of account operations of all corporate borrowers
  • Check covenants and other conditions at least monthly to ensure full compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with terms & conditions laid down by the Approval Committee and Offer Letters.
  • Daily monitoring of all corporate accounts in arrears and engage clients to understand the cause and solution for the arrears.
  • Support the branch and regional staff with recommendations to the Head of Credit and Credit Committee for any proposed restructuring and recovery strategies.
  • Promotes business for the Bank by maintaining good  customer relations and referring customers to relevant stakeholders for new banking business segments namely Retail SME, Retail Personal and Micro.

 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a business-related field.
  • A postgraduate/ master’s degree in a Business-related field will be an added advantage.
  • At least eight years of progressive  work experience in credit related role in banking/   financial institutions; of which 3 years must have been in supervisory role.
  • Must be well-formed of the market competitive structure, industry practices and regulations for  Consumer banking with at least 2 years’ experience in local environment.
  • Ability to articulate concepts and requirements clearly, present and substantiate own judgement
  • /analysis/evaluation with skill and diplomacy.
  • Must display good and clear understanding of all the credit products and lending processes in the Bank.
  • Demonstrated credit management, Sales & Negotiating skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, decision-making, and financial management skills.
