Senior A/V Analyst
Pay Details
The starting hourly rate range for this position is $47.50 to $53.75 per hour. The actual hourly rate offered will take internal value, peer equity, job-related factors, and other organizational considerations into account.
The Senior AV Analyst serves as a technical expert responsible for the design, setup, operation, and maintenance of advanced audio-visual systems supporting corporate event spaces, small special events, and the F&B/Club areas of the Honda Center where digital signage is utilized. This role also provides comprehensive AV support at remote locations, including The Rinks, Great Park Ice, The Grove, office buildings, and other designated sites outside the district. The Senior AV Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring seamless AV integration and performance across a wide range of equipment, including but not limited to projectors, PA systems, smartboards, speakers, control systems, and complex multi-room environments. In alignment with the overall team, this position collaborates with the Production Team for AV/Broadcast and Live Event services to ensure a clear delineation of responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the configuration, installation, operation, and repair of professional-grade AV systems, ensuring optimal performance for corporate event spaces, conference rooms, small special events, and the F&B/Club areas of Honda Center where digital signage is used
- Manage all aspects of AV system infrastructure, including video walls, integrated control systems, matrix switchers, audio processors, and digital signal routing
- Perform advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting of equipment and system failures; oversee service tickets and escalate issues to vendors as necessary
- Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., IT, Facilities, Events, Communications) to plan and execute AV needs across supported spaces and services
- Maintain and update system documentation, inventory logs, and technical standards
- Lead preventive maintenance planning and execution for AV assets, ensuring system reliability and longevity
- Mentor junior AV staff, providing guidance on installation techniques, system operations, safety protocols, and troubleshooting best practices
- Coordinate with third-party service providers, vendors, and contractors for complex repairs, installations, and upgrades
- Contribute to the research, evaluation, and recommendation of new AV technologies and solutions aligned with organizational growth and innovation
- Provide support for various projects as assigned by the manager, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability to meet evolving organizational needs
Skills
- Minimum of 5+ years of related work experience
- Expert-level knowledge of AV signal flow, control systems (e.g., Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS), DSPs, and video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom Rooms, Teams)
- Proficiency with networking fundamentals as they apply to AV over IP systems and integration with enterprise IT infrastructure
- Deep understanding of live event production, stage audio setups, recording workflows, and broadcast standards
- Familiarity with compliance and safety standards related to AV equipment, cabling, and electrical systems
- Advanced diagnostic and problem-solving skills in high-pressure event or broadcast environments
- Skilled in reading and interpreting schematics, architectural blueprints, and technical documentation
- Strong project coordination and time management skills, with ability to juggle multiple installations or events simultaneously
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical language for non-technical stakeholders
- Proficient in using AV design and documentation tools such as AutoCAD, Visio, or D-Tools
- Able to lead AV operations independently with minimal supervision, including emergency responses and on-the-fly configuration changes
- Able to mentor and train junior staff to ensure consistent team knowledge and development
- Able to collaborate cross-functionally and represent AV interests in cross-departmental projects and planning meetings
- Able to manage vendor relationships and negotiate service contracts or repair timelines effectively
- Able to lift and transport equipment up to 50 pounds and work safely on ladders, lifts, or in tight mechanical spaces
- Able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support mission-critical events
