JOB DETAILS:
ROLE SUMMARY: Implementation and enforcement of security standards and procedures that provide safe and secure flights, baggage, cargo, catering and related operations
1. Undertake security checks of the aircraft in accordance with the aviation security program and local standard operating procedures to discover weapons, explosives or other dangerous devices which might have been placed on board an aircraft
2. Handling of security items like firearms in accordance with the applicable regulations, aviation security program and local standard operating procedures
3. Uphold Safety Management systems to ensure compliance with Uganda airlines and regulatory requirements.
4. Protect passenger baggage, cargo, courier and mail against unlawful interference in accordance with the applicable regulations, aviation security program and local standard operating procedures
5. Observe loading and offloading processes to prevent unauthorized interference, theft/pilferage on passenger baggage and cargo
6. Assist in preventing the possibility of mishandling of baggage and cargo
7. Carry out random baggage weights for passengers, crew and staff on both departing and arriving flights.
8. Effectively carryout aircraft access control in accordance with the aviation security program and local standard operating procedures
9. Effectively carry out patrols in operational areas i.e. baggage hall, make up areas, aircraft parking bays, GSE equipment parking yards, lounges, check in areas, cargo warehouses, be on the lookout for any unauthorized persons within the specified area, stop and challenge people whose identity is not clear and report.
10. Protect parked and unattended aircraft in accordance with the aviation security program and local standard operating procedures
11. Escort screened checked hold baggage from the point of check in to the point of loading and from aircraft to arrivals baggage claim area
12. Secure items left behind by customers in the cabin, airport in accordance with the aviation security program and local standard operating procedures
13. Protect cargo, courier and mails from sabotage and theft in accordance with the aviation security program and local standard operating procedures
14. Report all security incidents to the supervisor. These include commission, omission, or attempt to commit an act of unlawful interference, theft, fraud and related activities
15. Assist responsible officers in investigation of company related issues as required
16. Search staff for prevention and detection of prohibited and/or stolen items
17. Undertakes any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Diploma in education with at least 2 years of relevant experience in security or teaching.
• Ethical with a clean criminal record
• Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
• Computer literate
• Ability to demonstrate aviation security knowledge and skills of the mentioned responsibilities
• Must be able to work at various hours and under pressure.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and report writing skills
• Flexible at work
• Must be medically fit for the job
