Job Summary

We are looking for an inspirational Science teacher who will have an impact on the outcomes for our children through delivering outstanding teaching. This person should be a Christian professional in good standing, who is expected to use initiative, insight and wisdom in dealing with the day to day activities of educating children.

Essential:

● A committed Christian actively involved in a local church whose teaching is consistent with the Statement of Faith of Heritage International School
● BA Honours Degree in Science or Science related discipline
● PGCE, QTS or country specific full teaching certification
● Highly relational interpersonal skills with staff, students and parents
● Excellent oral and written communication skills
● Good ICT skills across a range of platforms
● Highly motivated, flexible and with a reliable attitude
● Demonstrated understanding of and passion for Science pedagogy and practices
● Experience of working with children with a range of needs, including those with developmental challenges
● Evidence of successful classroom practice and behaviour support skills
● The capacity to think through issues from a Christian worldview perspective
● Demonstrated commitment to personal and professional development

Responsibilities

1. As a Classroom Teacher, to:

● actively promote equality of opportunity within an inclusive and diverse classroom
● maintain an attractive, dynamic and emotionally safe learning environment
● work to inspire in all children a desire for success and a passion for learning
● deliver learning to meet the needs of all groups of learners including those with additional needs
● manage behaviour with consistency and fairness in line with our school Behaviour Policy, to ensure a safe, ordered atmosphere for all
● effect regular and efficient formative assessment to inform planning and learning; using data to identify gaps in learning, to inform teaching and, therefore, to maximise student’s progress
● be a proactive member of a Curriculum Team, taking the lead in a subject to inform and monitor curriculum content, standards and resources
● show a willingness to be involved in the extra-curricular life of the school
● foster and maintain an efficient and productive relationship between home and school.
Teaching and Learning
● demonstrate consistently outstanding teaching skills, managing students and maintaining high standards of behaviour across the school
● play a major role in the development of high quality teaching and learning in the Science department
● contribute to the development and delivery of a creative and stimulating Science curriculum
● complete all assessment and monitoring tasks as per the school assessment policies
● Have a firm grasp of how IT and Technology can augment the Science curriculum
● Be confident in setting up lab work, experiments, safely using and storing chemicals and ensuring all safety procedures are followed in the Science lab
Communication
● develop and maintain positive professional relationships with colleagues, parents, the local community and the school leadership teams
● attend and contribute to appropriate departmental/whole school meetings and briefing
