Watoto Church and Childcare Ministries has experienced exponential growth in the past couple of years composed of multiple Celebration Centers (Campuses) and diverse Community care initiatives that include Childcare, Community and Neighborhood, Education and FM Radio amongst others. In all of this, Watoto remains a local church, committed to celebrating Christ and caring for community.
We are seeking to recruit School counsellors to support the holistic development of students in Watoto Schools through guidance and counselling.

 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to).
• Develop relationships and partnerships for student career field trials and work with a range of professionals and businesses to expose learners to the various worlds of work.

 

 

• Support the scholarship desk in advisory services and in the implementation of the college preparation classes.

 

 

• Provide individual counselling sessions to students dealing with academic challenges and, providing referrals to the medical and the pastoral and discipleship leadership where necessary.

 

 

• Coordinate and provide leadership in guidance and counselling in the designated school. Participate in the preparation of character development material with guidance from the pastoral and discipleship leadership.
• Track mentorship attendance and mentors' regular trainings.
• Support in the discipline management of students.

 

 

• Support in the capacity building of teachers in relevant counselling trainings.
• Support the students in career exploration options, and preparation for post-secondary education or vocational training.
• Organize career fairs and workshops to enhance student awareness of future opportunities. Collaborate with teachers and staff to identify students who may require additional academic assistance.
• Support the development of personalized academic plans to help students achieve their educational goals.
• Provide support and advice on students' admissions, subject choices, and career development.
• Provide support to students and make recommendations to teachers and administration about the learners' academic paths.
• Maintain accurate records of students' career profiles, counselling sessions, interventions, and student progress in accordance with school policies.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience.
• The applicant for the role should have a minimum of a bachelor's degree in psychology, Counselling & Guidance or other related degree.
• Proven track record of at least 2 years teaching experience within a large active and vibrant organisation.
• Should have an outstanding organizational and communication skills, a team player and able to work under minimum supervision and tight deadlines.
• Ability to work with youth and young adults.
• Computer literacy with excellent interpersonal skills
• Excellent Oral and Written communication skills and great and record keeping.
