They will promote and grow the So Sure Brand of reusable sanitary pads and underwear across the Western regions of Uganda, mainly focused on the district of Mbarara. The goal for this role is the implementation of operational activities that are in line with the company’s strategy. The Sales Representative shall report directly to the Head of So Sure.

AFRIpads is a social enterprise that provides women and girls with a sustainable solution for managing their periods with comfort and dignity. An exciting opportunity has become available at AFRIpads within our So Sure department. We are looking for an enthusiastic Sales Representative to join our Sales Team. So Sure is our commercial brand, and our products are sold in supermarkets, pharmacies, drug shops and dukas across Uganda. We produce and sell reusable sanitary pads that are made from high-tech man-made fibres which provide advanced protection and comfort. Our smart and washable design means they can be used all year long!

About the role

The sales representative will provide sales, marketing, and administrative support to the So Sure department. They will promote and grow the So Sure brand of reusable sanitary pads and underwear across the Western regions of Uganda, mainly focused on the district of Mbarara. The goal for this role is the implementation of operational activities that are in line with the company’s strategy. The sales representative shall report directly to the Head of So Sure.

Responsibilities

  • Main contact for selling So Sure products to retail, wholesale and other clients in the Mbarara region.
  • Visit, collect orders, arrange deliveries, and train existing clients.
  • Engage, onboard, list products, and train new clients.
  • Payment collection from clients (cash/bank/cheque).
  • Provide after-sales services, addressing any questions and issues of clients.
  • Meet and exceed pre-determined targets, set by the department.
  • Provide customers/users with information about the characteristics and functions of the products, and explain the use and care procedures.
  • Administrative tasks such as writing sales reports, weekly work planning, client stock monitoring, client & user feedback collection, and expense reporting.
  • Working closely with our management to identify issues and improve on operations.
  • Join and support the Ugandan team at events on a need basis.
  • Be flexible to take up duties as they come up.

Key requirements

  • At least 3 years of proven experience in sales in Mbarara district (preferably in women’s care and/or pharmaceutical products).
  • Experience working with Office software like Word & Excel.
  • Experience working in a business setting (office) and in the field (retail shops).
  • Able to host stock at an owned location, to supply stock on an immediate needs basis.
  • Knowledge of sales management tools is preferred but not necessary.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong command of English and Runyankole (additional Ugandan languages preferred).
  • Culturally responsive and respectful.
  • Self-motivated and strong desire to take on new challenges as they occur.

Physical requirements

  • Able and willing to travel regularly. Needs to be highly flexible and adaptable to travel within short notice.
  • Travel is required within Mbarara, surrounding districts, and sometimes in other regions in Uganda.
  • Able to move and transport across Mbarara, by public transport such as motorcycle taxis.

Key skills

  • Excellent client relationship management, sales, and customer service skills, with the ability to inform and persuade people.
  • Independent and capable of proactive workplan management with minimal support.
  • Thoughtful, resourceful, and eager to learn.
