DGB is a purpose-driven project developer specializing in nature-based solutions, managing high-quality projects that emphasize ecosystem restoration, conservation, and biodiversity enrichment.
Through our projects, products and services, we aid companies in understanding and committing to environmental improvement, assessing their environmental footprint, developing strategies for environmental solutions, and communicating their progress on sustainability transparently.
The purpose of the Sales Manager Coffee is to maximize the sales from coffee by 1) managing the sales and logistics of produced coffee; 2) managing the quality of the produced coffee that is being sold; 3) acting as the local DGB representative towards buyers, buyer’s organizations, or other stakeholders in the coffee value chain, 4) leading the coffee sales team.
Tasks & Responsibilities
• Establish DGB as the single trading entity in the value chain of coffee between the producer (our farmers) and the buyer (the exporters)
• Maintain a quality network with the major players in the coffee value chain (exporters, international buyers, processors, etc)
• Maximise sales prices of the produced coffee
• Minimise losses of raw materials in the chain due to quality issues
• Organise logistics to collect coffee from farmers and transfer it to buyers
• Ensure compliance and quality control of all coffee-related operations in the country including; accuracy of reported production values (# of kilos produced, # of kilos of sold, # of kilos discarded due to quality, etc)
• Design and implement project cost efficiencies, while maintaining quality control
• Maintain good working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including global team members, partners, industry regulators, government departments, and other third-party organizations
Requirements
• The Sales Manager Coffee should have an excellent understanding of the industry and have an existing network within the Uganda coffee industry and value chain
• At least 5 years of relevant job experience within coffee value chains in a senior field/sales role
• Has to be able to perform good quality control on the raw materials
• Must have sales experience, with a solid understanding of orders, sales, margin, cost efficiencies, invoicing & payments
• Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in competitive markets.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Must be able to build good relationships with large numbers of customers (both farmers and buyers)
• Excellent ability to perform quality control on operational processes and data generation
• Willing to travel to potentially remote locations in-country
• Fluent in English and at least 1 other local language spoken within the project area
• Experience in an international organization is a plus
• Good local cultural awareness and sensitivity
