Human Capital Business Solutions Ltd is a Boutique HR Advisory Firm that specializes in strategic HR Consulting, Talent Acquisition & Development, Risk Management and Business Process Outsourced Services with our Headquarters based in Uganda and Country Office in Tanzania.

On behalf of Our client in the Manufacturing Sector, we are looking for competent and experienced Sales Engineer-SAFBUILD/PEB to be based in Kampala.

Reports To: Head-Building Systems-UG

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda.

Job Summary: The Sales Engineer is responsible for the successful drive of Sales, Business Development, Marketing, Order Book, Customer Service etc. of SAFBUILD/Pre-Engineered Buildings (HR, Built-Up and Light Gauge) and any new construction related solutions company intends to offer by identifying and managing existing customer accounts and opening of new customers/ markets as per company requirements

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively identify, engage in and drive sale/business development of SAFBUILD/PEB steel building solutions based on targeted customers. Develop and manage new solutions sales within existing and new channels.
  • Able to read & understand the tender drawings; review the drawings thoroughly and transfer information to design department for starting the estimation design, upon design completion coordinate & capable to read the quantity take off, prepare the costing sheet and take approval from the reporting manager before preparation of Techno-Commercial proposal & upon approval submission to customer for further approvals.
  • Able to read & understand the techno-commercial contracts & terms stated in the RFQ/tender (i.e., GCC, SCC, HSE, ABG, PBG, CPBG etc)
  • Able to negotiate technical & commercial terms with customer by safeguarding company interest. Should have a capability to close the order individually.
  • Should hand over the awarded contracts to Project Manager for taking it to the next level of execution.
  • Continuously support the Project Manager/Project Management Department during the execution of project. i.e., GA Drawing Approval, Milestone Payment Collection, ABG, PBG, CPBG requirements, Credit Approvals etc)
  • Achieving the monthly, Quarterly & yearly target of Pipe-Line development (Enquiry), Order Book (LPO) and Billing (Tonnage and Value)
  • Prepare weekly/monthly report on project pipeline/inquiry status/won order/lost orders analysis etc
  • Keep a close watch on competition, their market share, new developments, new entrants etc
  • Daily/Weekly meeting plan with the influencer community of Architects, Quantity Surveyors, Civil/Structural Engineers, Contracting Community and Key End-users (like Govt. Agencies, Semi Govt, Pvt Organizations, Pvt Customers, Foreign Investors, Export entities/clients etc etc)
  • Develop firm reports for Daily/Weekly engagements & its follow-ups for reporting manager review
  • Specifying the SAFBUILD brand in upcoming tenders.
  • Liaise with cross functional teams and partners to develop new propositions for targeted customers.
  • Actively support Marketing team & take part in trade shows, professional conferences, influencer engagements etc to promote the company and brand.
  • Development of Certified Influencers Pool (like Dealers, Contractors, Architects, QS, Civil/Structural eng etc through whom Company Building Systems marketed & sold on commission basis)

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Minimum academic qualification:  Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Civil Engineering or Mechanical or Equivalent
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration is an added advantage
  • Professional registration: UIPE/ERB/ IEK is an added advantage
  • General work experience (years): 5-7 years as PEB-Sales Engineer/Business Development/Technical Sales
  • Core expertise in commercial knowledge of the construction industry with 5 years’ experience in Technical Sales
  • Experience in Building/Construction Industry
  • Experience of working with Architects, Engineers, Project Managers, Main Contractors, Specialist Contractors is essential especially in the government sector.
  • A tactical thinker who is commercially aware of the impact of decisions
  • Able to demonstrate a high degree of emotional resilience and a strong focus on achieving goals
  • Demonstrate technical competence and knowledge of the construction sector standards and expectations
  • Good influencing and networking skills and the proven ability to get things done through others by adopting a collaborative approach
  • Practical experience of working within the construction sector
  • Previous technical experience in sales within the construction sector an advantage
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Proven ability to work under own initiative
  • Proven networking skills with experience of conducting formal presentations

  • Computer literacy:MS Office (Excel, Word, Power Point), AUTOCAD (or any other drafting software) MS Projects will be added advantage, Design Software like MBS, StaadPro, Master series etc. is an added advantage)
