Client Brief:
Our client is a Ugandan NGO whose goal is to provide long-term sustained funding for biodiversity conservation and environmental management. It has an established valued Niche in Conservation Financing, which consists of the development and promotion of Cutting edge conservation initiatives, Managing grants on behalf of donors, Establishment of Payment for Environmental Services Schemes, Building public-private partnerships and Land Trusts.
Position Summary:
Our client is currently seeking applications from very dynamic self–driven professional to join their team. The Risk and Compliance Manager is responsible for planning, executing and reporting on operational, financial, regulatory and compliance related audits/reviews.
Key duties and Responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing risk & compliance policies, procedures and activities;
- Prepare the organization’s annual audit plans and schedule quarterly internal audit reviews;
- Work with internal auditor to verify the efficiency and effectiveness of internal controls and the control environment.
- Ensure systems for proactive, detective and preventive fraud risk management, where prevention fails, processes to analyze suspected fraud and processes to respond tactically and strategically to the results of a fraud analysis.
- Conduct risk assessments and identify controls to mitigate identified risks.
- Prepare quarterly risk and compliance reports to the Board on findings and recommendations.
- Coordinate and contribute, as appropriate to the year-end financial audit with the External Auditor.
- Any other related duty as may be delegated by the Board
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
Minimum academic qualifications
- A professional certification in Accounting or Auditing. A Bachelor’s degree will be an added advantage.
Knowledge & Work experience
- Excellent knowledge of risk-based auditing attained through five (05) years of progressive work experience preferably in a reputable audit firm or as a senior auditor in a small to medium sized organization.
- Good understanding of public sector financial management practices and ability to fully comply with the Institute of Internal Auditors standards.

- Be adaptable and able to meet deadlines on assignments, juggle multiple demands and to work with all levels within the institution.
- Strong skills in influencing, relationship building and problem solving.
