Job Description
The Retail sales manager will be responsible for overseeing and driving the retail sales strategy and operations. This leadership role involves developing and executing strategies to grow the retail business, managing retail channels, enhancing customer experience, and ensuring the achievement of sales and profitability targets. The Head of Retail will lead a team of managers and sales professionals, fostering a high-performance culture and ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Strategic Leadership:
• Develop and implement the retail sales strategy in alignment with Old Mutual Life Assurance overall business objectives.
• Identify growth opportunities and market trends to drive retail sales performance.
• Lead the development and execution of innovative sales and marketing initiatives.

Team Management:
• Support recruitment, training, and development of the retail sales team.
• Set performance targets and monitor team achievements.
• Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to ensure high levels of employee engagement and performance.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and develop action plans for continuous improvement.

Sales and Distribution:
• Manage and optimize retail sales channels, including direct sales, bancassurance, agents, brokers, and digital platforms.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key distribution partners.
• Ensure effective execution of sales plans and promotional campaigns.
• Monitor sales metrics and implement corrective actions to achieve targets.

Customer Experience:
• Enhance the customer journey and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and retention.
• Implement customer feedback mechanisms to continuously improve products and services.
• Address and resolve customer issues promptly and effectively.

Compliance and Reporting:
• Ensure all retail activities comply with industry regulations and internal policies.
• Maintain accurate records and prepare regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and business development activities.
• Present findings and recommendations to senior management and the board.

Business Development:
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand the retail client base.
• Collaborate with product development, marketing, and other departments to enhance product offerings and market presence.
• Represent the company at industry events and conferences to promote brand visibility.

Qualifications:
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

Experience:
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in the insurance industry, with at least 5 years in a senior management role within retail sales.

Skills:
• Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving business growth.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent strategic planning and execution abilities.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyze complex data and market trends.
• Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Certifications: Relevant industry certifications (e.g., Diploma in Insurance, CIM, CII, Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), Certified Financial Planner (CFP)) are advantageous.
