About Organisation:

Energising Development (EnDev) is a global multi-donor partnership program implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) that facilitates market-based access to modern energy services in 20 countries worldwide. In Uganda, EnDev cooperates closely with the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) in providing access to modern energy services to households, social institutions, and SMEs. This is achieved through the development of markets for solar PV and energy efficient cook stoves with support provided to the private sector. EnDev Uganda’s interventions focus on strengthening and expanding the distribution networks for clean energy technology, enhancing marketing outreach, improving service and product quality, as well as increasing awareness and knowledge among the targeted users.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The Trainee will learn the following.

Project Coordination, Planning & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Alignment of tasks with the solar and clean cooking companies supported under the EnDev project. This includes coordinating meetings, preparing workshop/meeting minutes, field visits, conducting/supporting studies, research, and ensuring proper documentation of key results.
  • Implementation of capacity-building trainings organized by the project and/or partners to enhance understanding on clean energy topics e.g., partner registration, set up of branding at workshop/training venues, coordinating invitations/RSVPs, etc.
  • Support the EnDev partner companies at events such as market activations, exhibitions, and awareness activities, knowledge exchange visits, etc.

Administrative tasks

  • Relevant logistical and/or administrative tasks, e.g. exhibition set up, etc. where applicable.

Monitoring and Evaluation

  • Monitoring and evaluation including data collection and verification, documenting of key outputs and related impacts where applicable.

Communication and Knowledge Management

  • Development or collecting information for project/partner communication efforts by preparing relevant materials e.g., factsheets, articles, social media posts, presentations, and organizing workshops.
  • Organize the document storage on relevant digital platforms from key activities e.g., MS Teams.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Engineering, Energy, Business Management, Agri-business, Entrepreneurship, Public Policy, Monitoring and Data Analytics or equivalent qualification.

Other Knowledge, Additional Competences

  • Very good knowledge of MS Office (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Knowledge of MS Excel data analysis tools (e.g. pivot tables) is an added advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and ability to work independently.
  • Quick comprehension, good analytical skills, and the ability to present complex contexts in a structured manner.
  • Excellent oral and written English language skills.
  • Good communication, organization, and presentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites across the country.
  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed.
  • Meticulous and attention to detail.
