Job Description
Position function
The jobholder will work closely with the Bancassurance Principal Officer to grow the revenue of the Bank through Bancassurance commission income from selling General insurance products of partner insurance companies to bank customers.

To manage client relationships, and stakeholder relationships (i.e. insurers, branches, Bank staff and customers) in order to retain and grow the existing clientele of the Bancassurance business. The incumbent is the primary point of contact for General insurance clients and partner insurance companies.

Key responsibilities
• Customer acquisition and soliciting for new business.
• Retention of customers by following up on monthly renewal notices sent out by the Bancassurance Operations Officer through Collateral Management Tool (CMT) or post office.

• Prepare proposals, renewal documents, quotations for clients and communicate with insurers on any renewal negotiations as per client requests.
• Review all documents going out to the customers and attach Key Features Statements.

• Work with branch staff to identify potential customers, cross-selling, up-selling, prepare quotations, schedule meetings, and presentations with potential clients.

• Conduct inspections, risk assessments, client trainings, client visits and service on a day to-day basis – to drive pipeline activities

• Explain content of policy coverage to customers without misleading or misrepresentation of the benefits or cost.
• Obtain the necessary documents at the time of filling the insurance request form that are required by the insurer to complete the proposal and promptly inform the prospective policy holder about the acceptance or rejection of the proposal by the insurer.

• Engage in joint branch visits, activations, promotions and campaigns with branches and insurance partners for general insurance products.
• Increasing bank customer awareness about the General insurance products and achieve the targeted penetration on cross sell within the bank’s customer base.

• Render the necessary assistance to the claimants or beneficiaries in complying with the requirements for settlement of claims by the insurer.
• Ensure timely collection of customer premium and remittance to the insurers so as to meet regulation requirements on cash and carry i.e., working with Insurers and Bancassurance Operations Officer to prepare reconciliation statements
• Support General insurance penetration and productivity within from the Bank segments branches, SME and corporate through training.
• Ensure timely collection of commissions from the insurers and supporting on commission reconciliations as per the set standards.
• Work with Insurers to develop and design incentives to drive business/sales growth across the different Bank segments so as to achieve the set targets.
• Study and understand the industry standard products, be familiar with clients’ policy wordings and establish what options the various insurers can provide.
• Ensure compliance to the Bank’s policies, processes, procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Review and recommend trends or improvements to the Bancassurance processes, procedures, operations and strategy.

Knowledge and experience
• Bachelor’s degree in a Business or insurance related field such as Business Administration, Marketing, Actuarial Science, or related discipline.
• Must have a Certificate in Insurance or diploma in insurance from the Chartered Insurance Institute of the United Kingdom or the Insurance Training College of Uganda (ITC) or a similar institute.
• Min of 2 years in banking or insurance preferably Bancassurance related roles or underwriting respectively.
• Knowledge in the principles and practices of General Insurance.

Required Competencies
• Selling skills, the job holder should be able to source business from Bank customers independently
• Problem solving, the staff should be able to give solutions to customers regarding their insurance product challenges/complaints.
• Effective communication. Staff should be able to conduct presentations which will be either trainings in the bank or product pitching to customers.
• Ethical conduct: The job holder should demonstrate a high level of integrity, professionalism, confidentiality and ethical conduct as they engage with information of bank customers.
• Knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel, Word, Project and PowerPoint)
• Fluent in any local language particularly for communication purposes with Bank customers who do not understand the English Language.
