Human Capital Business Solutions Ltd is a Boutique HR Advisory Firm that specializes in strategic HR Consulting, Talent Acquisition & Development, Risk Management and Business Process Outsourced Services with our Headquarters based in Uganda and Country Office in Tanzania.
On behalf of our client in the manufacturing sector, we are looking for a competent and experienced Quality Control Officer to be based in Jinja, Uganda.
Job Summary: This role involves ensuring that all products, materials, and processes meet established quality standards and customer specifications. The role also involves performing inspections, conducting tests, and documenting findings to detect and address any non-conformities in the production process. The Quality Control Officer will collaborate with production teams to maintain high-quality outputs, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Perform inspections on raw materials, in-process items, and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards.
• Conduct tests using appropriate tools and techniques to verify product specifications.
• Observe and monitor production processes to ensure compliance with quality standards and procedures.
• Identify deviations from set processes and address them promptly.
• Detect and document defects or non-conformities in products and processes.
• Prepare and submit non-conformance reports and recommend corrective actions.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and quality audits.
• Ensure that all quality-related documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
• Ensure all products and processes comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
• Participate in audits and assist with regulatory inspections.
• Work closely with production, quality assurance, and engineering teams to resolve quality issues.
• Provide feedback and recommendations for process or product improvements.
• Analyze inspection data to identify trends or recurring issues and suggest enhancements.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to optimize product quality and reduce waste.
• Train production staff on quality control procedures and best practices.
• Promote a culture of quality within the organization.
• Implement and monitor corrective actions to address quality issues.
• Participate in preventive measures to eliminate potential quality risks.
• Ensure testing equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly.
• Report any malfunctions or the need for maintenance.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Quality Management or a related field.
• Understanding of the quality control processes relevant in the steel manufacturing industry.
• At least 3-5 years post qualification experience as a Quality Control Officer in a steel manufacturing industry.
• Ability to use laboratory equipment like spectrometers, hardness testers, tensile machines, and other metallurgical testing tools.
• Strong knowledge of chemical analysis methods for determining the composition of steel alloys.
• Knowledge of data logging and report generation software used in industrial laboratories.
• Ability to follow strict testing procedures and protocols to maintain quality standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with production, engineering, and quality control teams.
