JOB DETAILS:
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and Implement Quality Assurance policies, frameworks and strategies to ensure academic and operational excellence
- Oversee and coordinate the curriculum development and review process
- Monitor teaching, learning and assessment processes through structured assessments and evaluations to ensure teaching effectiveness and promote student centricity
- Prepare and present reports on quality assurance audits and compliance to inform decision-making processes
- Coordinate the Process of accreditation and re-accreditation of academic programmes
- Keep updated with the guidelines and policies of the National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), the Inter-University Council for East Africa (IUCEA), and other relevant professional bodies, and follow through with the implementation of their recommendations to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory and accreditation requirements, and coordinate preparations for inspections, audits, and external evaluations, including guidelines from professional bodies.
- Generate annual budgets for the department for effective resourcing of programmes within the Directorate
- Prepare annual and any other reports required by the regulatory and professional bodies.
- Monitor teaching effectiveness, student assessment processes, and faculty performance through structured evaluation mechanisms and disseminate findings to management and staff
- Oversee performance, productivity and continuous professional development of the staff in the directorate.
Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s degree from a reputable University
- Minimum of four years of working experience in either academic or administrative operations such as quality assurance, academic registry or a related role in Higher Education Institutions
- Demonstrated experience in Pedagogy, policy development and curriculum development.
Desired competencies and attributes
- Industry, academic and regulatory knowledge such as NCHE and other professional bodies
- Working knowledge of International Standards Organizations (ISO)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Data Analysis, reporting and technology proficiency
- Communication and stakeholder engagement
- Extensive knowledge of national and international quality trends in higher education
- High level of integrity
