At Ndejje Career Development is a collective effort and is done at departmental / faculty level. Students interact freely with teaching and non teaching staff during and after their tenure at the University for Guidance, professional assistance, job placements, among others.

Reports to:    Senior Public Relations Officer
Employment terms:   3 Years Contract, (Salary Scale NDU 6)

PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To implement the public relations policies and strategies of the University and
support the linkage between the University, the public and other organizations
with the aim of projecting the image of the University positively.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To prepare and implement public relations plan and programmes which meet
    and promote the image of the University.
  • To make arrangements and maintain positive media relations through press
    conferences, articles, press releases, radio and T.V. programmes.
  • To facilitate and promote the flow and dissemination of information within
    the University.
  • To assist in guiding the public and clients on how, where and when to obtain
    the University services.
  •  To assist in coordinating the organization and facilitation arrangements of all
    the University’s official and social functions.
  •  To coordinate advertising all the University programmes.
  • To initiate programmes and activities that will enhance a better understanding of the internal operations of the University by all members of
    the University community.
  • To advise the Vice Chancellor on press issues and through the press, promote
    and protect the image of the University.
  • To forge beneficial linkages with organizations in aspects relevant to the
    achievement of the University’s mission.
  • To promote good public relations by the University staff dealing or interacting
    directly with its public.
  • To perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Supervisor.

  • Public relations plans and programmes prepared and implemented.
  • Official visitors received.
  • Positive media relations maintained.
  • Dissemination of information facilitated and improved.
  • University official functions organized.
  •  University programmes advertised.
  •  University image promoted ad protected.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field from a recognized University/Institution.
  • Age Limit: Must be between 25 and 35 years old at the time of application.
  • Should have a minimum of three years’ experience in Public Relations and
    Marketing related duties in a reputable Public or Private Organization.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Should be computer literate
