Job Title:   Protection Officer – (CP&GBV)

Salary: UGX 2,570,880 – 3,957,752 Sh per month

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Implementation and Support

  • Support local partners in implementing CP and GBV activities in line with project plans and quality standards.
  • Ensure timely and high-quality implementation of activities, including case management, community-based protection mechanisms, and awareness campaigns.
  • Support local partners to provide first-level support to survivors of GBV and children at risk, ensuring proper documentation and confidentiality.
  • Facilitate case conferences and referrals to specialized services as needed.
  • Assist in monitoring and evaluating program impact, ensuring accurate data collection and reporting.

Capacity Building and Technical Support

  • Provide mentorship and coaching to partner case workers on GBV and CP prevention and response.
  • Support the development and dissemination of CP and GBV tools and guidelines.
  • Organize and facilitate training on case management and survivor-centered approaches.
  • Strengthen community-based GBV and CP structures in collaboration with implementing partners for sustainability of interventions.

Coordination and Advocacy

  • Participate in coordination meetings, including the CP and GBV sub-sector working groups.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with local service providers and authorities.
  • Advocate for improved protection services and referral pathways for children and GBV survivors.
  • Support the establishment of feedback mechanisms to enhance accountability.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Ensure partner adherence to CP and GBV quality standards and best practices.
  • Work with M&E teams to collect and analyze data on CP and GBV services.
  • Contribute to weekly, monthly, annual and donor reports, case studies, and learning documents.
  • Regularly assess community needs and update program strategies accordingly.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, Gender Studies, Child Protection, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in CP and GBV programming, preferably in humanitarian settings.
  • Strong knowledge of CP and GBV case management and survivor-centered approaches.
  • Experience in training and capacity-building for local partners and community structures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of refugee languages in Uganda is an asset.
  • Experience working in refugee or emergency settings.
  • Knowledge of War Child’s programming and safeguarding policies.
  • Takes responsibility for decision-making and resource management.
  • Holds self and team accountable for program quality and impact.
  • Builds and maintains strong relationships with teams, partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Values diversity and promotes an inclusive environment.
  • Develops and encourages innovative solutions in protection programming.

MUST have the following;

  • Familiarity with proGresV4, CPIMS+ and GBVIMS+ application and experience data management systems is a MUST.
  • Knowledge and experience in using UNHCR (BIP) especially hands on administration BIA and BID a MUST.
  • MUST know how to ride a motorbike and in possession of a valid riding license Class A permit.
