JOB DETAILS:
Job Summary
The Project Officer – Education will work to improve equitable access to quality education for children at risk of losing family care. The role involves implementing education-focused interventions, capacity building, and advocacy to ensure enrollment, retention, and completion of education. The officer will collaborate with stakeholders to enhance the capacity of school management, families, and communities in promoting child protection and educational sustainability.
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Support and Training:
• Conduct capacity needs assessments for teachers and volunteers in collaboration with the Centre Coordinating Tutor and the District Education Officer (DEO).
• Develop and implement capacity-building plans for teachers and volunteers.
• Mentor and coach teachers through support supervision visits.
• Build peer mentoring mechanisms for school management committees and volunteers.
2. Project Planning and Implementation:
• Plan and coordinate school and community-based education activities.
• Develop and implement activity concepts in alignment with the annual operation plan and project log frame.
• Organize meetings, workshops, and advocacy initiatives to enhance education access.
• Ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality implementation of education activities.
3. Partnership and Networking:
• Build partnerships with local stakeholders, including CBOs, local government, and schools.
• Participate in district coordination meetings to influence education policy decisions.
• Support the development and implementation of school improvement plans.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
• Maintain a database of school-related information, including enrollment, drop-out rates, and teacher training records.
• Document good practices, success stories, and trends in education access.
• Prepare timely and accurate project reports.
5. Supervision and Mentorship:
• Conduct support supervision and mentoring sessions for teachers and school networks.
• Facilitate the formation of child peer networks and promote the development of classroom materials.
Qualifications and Experience
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Community Development, or a related field.
• Experience:
o At least 5 years of experience in community development, education, or family empowerment projects.
o Experience in Early Childhood Development (ECD), child protection, and violence prevention.
• Skills:
o Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.
o Proficiency in results-based education approaches and project monitoring.
o Knowledge of partnership development and capacity building for grassroots organizations.
