The Project officer BIP will provide hands on support to caseworkers, alternative case supervisors in case management, case plan implementation, monitoring and documentation of Unaccompanied & Separated children; support in the generation of quality reports and share data as per the information sharing protocol and assume the responsibilities given in accordance with a well-defined framework of policies and procedures.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Management;
• Ensure that all case management by supervisees is undertaken in the ProgresV4 system.
• Ssupport to the compilation and analysis of protection monitoring information for sharing with partners and donors.
• Supervise case workers to ensure adequate management of cases for children in his/her AoR
• Liaise with other staff and partners for comprehensive case management of children
• Coordinate with the SCPO to ensure timely case conferencing for complex cases for timely child protection as well as a coordinated and timely response to risks facing children
• Generate and submit all standard reports including all weekly reports and statistical data reports to the Senior Child protection Officer.
• Review case reports and monitoring statistics with the Senior Child Protection Officer; setting for case follow-ups, closure and identifying gaps as appropriate.
• Analyse and respond to internal reporting requirements and external requests from partners as per the protocol.
• Manage the CP database ensuring regular archiving and backup of information, data entry/review.
• Ensure confidentiality of all information relating to child protection case management.

Technical and Capacity Building;
• Oversees child protection case management in his/her AoR in accordance with the standards and processes for doing individual case management with children at risk
• Train, coach and mentor child protection case workers to ensure that children receive suitable case management services
• Responsible for implementation of the best interest principle, review of best interest and Best Interest Determination assessments/reports to inform protection of children at risk
• Ensure child protection case management using ProGres V4
• Maintain standards for child participation, including data confidentiality.
• Ensure that all technical information pertinent to ProGres V4 is obtained, documented and disseminated to staff as required.
• Establish and liaise closely with UNHCR, OPM and partners agencies regarding documentation of unaccompanied and separated children to ensure and. promote a coordinated approach to case management.

Case management
• Support in the BID process for durable solutions for the children at risk.
• Schedule and supervise case management meetings at least every two weeks. Share minutes of case management meetings with team and senior CP management.
• Conduct weekly supervision meetings with all caseworkers, providing technical advice on cases and psychosocial support to caseworkers. Facilitate peer-to-peer support groups where appropriate.
• Support individual cases where required and provide regular monitoring of all aspects of case management services.
• Ensure staff gaps and training needs do not result in gaps in support to individuals in case management, and address such issues with senior management
• Review staff caseloads to ensure they are manageable and share challenges with Senior Child Protection Officer.
• Monitor timescales for response, decision-making, placement, follow-up and review of cases.
• Ensure access to material and further technical support and set eligibility criteria for material and other support.
• Review and analyse trends in the caseload to inform programming
• Conduct regular case file audit and check that protocols and principles are respected.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• The applicant for the Project Officer BIP job placement should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Social work, Social Sciences, Development studies or any related fields;
• Child protection case management experience;
• Experience in working with refugee children and communities; Strong communication skills.
