Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation -Uganda (Baylor-Uganda) is an indigenous not-for-profit child health and development organisation affiliated to the Baylor College of Medicine International Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI), a Network of paediatric HIV/AIDS care and treatment Children’s Clinical Centres of Excellence and international program offices in 11 countries across Africa and Eastern Europe.
Job Summary: The project officer is responsible for working with the district stakeholders in implementing the HIV prevention project activities/interventions targeting Adolescent Girls and Young Women in alignment with the project objectives and set targets.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Based on the project’s technical approach and national guidelines, take the lead in planning, coordinating, and implementing the project activities in the district of operation.
- Build the capacity of health workers and key community stakeholders (including schools) in adolescent-friendly services through training, mentorship and support supervision.
- Build the capacity of AGYW peers through training, support supervision and mentorship.
- Conduct timely documentation of activities implemented and ensure monthly and quarterly reporting of project achievements in collaboration with the project M&E Officer.
- Establish collaborations and strengthen partner coordination with key stakeholders including; comprehensive partners, civil society, and district and community structures for effective and efficient implementation of the project activities.
- Strengthen referral and linkages between community service delivery points and health facilities for AGYW HIV, SRH, GBV and Nutrition services.
- Liaise with other cluster bases staff to support the smooth and coordinated implementation of the project activities,
- Support the districts to establish and functionalize the District Integrated Committees for Adolescent Health (DICAH).
- Develop timely activity trip plans, budgets, and implementation plans on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis.
- Represent the project in district meetings including extended DHT meetings, comprehensive partners’ meetings when invited and district technical working group activities where Baylor is required to participate.
- Document project success stories and case studies for sharing with a wider audience.
- Ensure timely accountability for all funds provided for project activity implementation.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor or regional cluster head.
- A Bachelor of Public Health with Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Community Health.
- Over 5 years of HIV prevention, care, and treatment and must be registered with the allied health professional body.
- Related work experience in technical assistance support to districts and Health system strengthening (HSS).
