Summary

The Wikimedia Foundation is seeking a Project Manager to plan and execute our activities in support of the Movement Strategy 2030 (MS). As the Project Manager, you will report to the Senior Manager of the Movement Strategy & Governance team, and you will work closely with the rest of the team, other teams at the Foundation, and the Wikimedia communities of volunteers and affiliates. Join us and help the Wikimedia movement implement their strategy!

You are responsible for:

    • Turning the annual objectives into project plans, consulting with the team and other stakeholders as needed.
    • Adjusting plans as appropriate to reflect Foundation and community expectations from ongoing discussions and changing circumstances.
    • Organizing project tasks, agreeing the timelines and distribution of work with the rest of the team.
    • Tracking progress against the team objectives and producing regular reports.
    • Ensuring that stakeholders are timely informed about the status of the MS process.
    • Ensuring that the promotion of diversity, equity and inclusion is embedded in all the activities the team supports.
    • Speaking on behalf of the MS team in community and Foundation meetings and events.

 

Skills and Experience:

    • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in project management and evaluation.
    • Demonstrated capacity to get things done in a flexible environment.
    • Comfort with navigating complexity, ambiguity, and high volumes of information.
    • Experience in global grassroots environments with diverse cultural and geographic contexts.
    • Experience working in a highly transparent and collaborative working environment
    • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Strong communicator, able to inform staff and volunteers with different backgrounds and levels of involvement.
    • Strongly empathetic - you will excel at understanding the perspectives of others and bridging the gap between different opinions.
    • Approachable, and able to build trust with volunteers and staff.

 

Additionally, we'd love it if you have:

    • Experience with working in international organizations.
    • Experience with working in the non-profit sector.
    • Experience with strategy, change or transformation processes.
    • Familiarity with the Wikimedia Movement Strategy.
    • Familiarity with Wikipedia and sister projects.
    • Familiarity with Wikimedia affiliates.
    • Familiarity producing presentations and reports.
    • Fluency in multiple languages.
