JOB DETAILS:
The Project Manager-GGE position at Future Options Consulting involves leading the implementation of the "Sustainable Development of the Mining Sector" project, commissioned by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
Key Responsibilities:
• Project Implementation: Oversee the execution of the project, ensuring quality delivery, results-based monitoring, evaluation, and effective communication.
• Budget Planning: Coordinate with the Finance Manager and Cluster Coordinator to plan and manage the project budget.
• Strategic Design: Develop and ensure technical linkages and synergies between the project and related regional initiatives.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with partners in Uganda for planning, implementation, and monitoring of project activities and outcomes.
• Team Management: Lead a team based in Kampala and/or Entebbe, fostering a culture of cooperation and appreciative leadership.
• Technical Expertise: Provide strong expertise on mining, represent GIZ in technical and policy meetings, and establish networks with relevant stakeholders in Uganda and the region.
• Knowledge Management: Oversee knowledge management, communication, and reporting related to the project.
Specific Tasks:
• Technical and Policy Advice: Advise project partners on investment promotion, artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) formalization, value addition, and responsible sourcing.
• Strategy Development: Assist the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development (MEMD) and other stakeholders in developing strategies to attract investments in the mining sector.
• Activity Design and Implementation: Design and implement activities to enhance the investment appeal of Uganda's mining sector.
• Project Management: Steer the development of operational plans and oversee their implementation in collaboration with project partners.
• Quality Assurance: Develop and organize quality assurance measures, suggesting necessary changes and improvements.
Qualifications:
• Education: Master's degree in Development Economics, Project Management, or other relevant disciplines.
• Experience: At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in development cooperation, particularly in enterprise development, employment promotion, private sector development, and technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
• Skills: Proficiency in basic statistical software (at minimum MS Excel).
