JOB DETAILS:
Role Purpose
• Strengthen the capacity of public and private organizations in Uganda's fresh fruit and vegetable (FFV) value chains.
• Ensure compliance with sanitary and phytosanitary (SPS) measures for domestic and export markets, focusing on EU plant health and food safety regulations.

• Promote horticulture exports to the EU and other markets.

Key Responsibilities
1. Oversee daily project operations, ensuring effective coordination and execution of approved activities.
2. Develop and manage work plans, budgets, and schedules.

3. Lead and motivate a multidisciplinary project team.

4. Monitor project progress, prepare detailed reports, and ensure compliance with regulations and donor requirements.
5. Manage risks and implement mitigation strategies.

6. Ensure transparency and accountability in financial management and reporting.

7. Build effective relationships with stakeholders, including government, partners, and donors.

Qualifications and Experience
• Education: PhD in agriculture, crop protection, agricultural economics, or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of project management, preferably in agriculture and development, with a proven track record in leading complex projects.
• Skills:
o Strong understanding of agriculture, crop protection, sustainable practices, and plant health systems.
o Familiarity with SPS-related issues and mitigation.

o Experience designing and implementing M&E frameworks.
o Financial management and accurate reporting skills.
o Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
