JOB DETAILS:
Café Africa is a not-for-profit organization committed to advance the interests of the coffee sector in Uganda. We comprise of a team of 14 dedicated professionals. We manage the Secretariat of the Uganda Coffee Platform and the Coordination Unit for the National EUDR and CS3D Compliance Action Plan.

The European Union Deforestation-free Regulation (EUDR) and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CS3D), require the Uganda coffee sector to make fundamental changes in the way it organises production, processing and trade of coffee for the European market. Café Africa received a grant from aBI-Development to coordinate the implementation of the Uganda EUDR/CS3D Compliance Action Plan (AP). The Coordination Unit (CU) operates under the overall guidance of the EUDR/CS3D Compliance Taskforce. The Head of the Coordination Unit (CU) leads a team of 4 persons to deliver factual information, create awareness and build capacity in the coffee sector to become EUDR and CS3D compliant. S/he reports to the CEO of Café Africa.

Key responsibilities:
• Day-to-day management of the CU
• Oversee, coordinate and promote the implementation of the AP
• Inform and update the coffee
• sector about emerging developments in EUDR and CS3D 4. Build capacity of extension staff, traders and factories on EUDR and CS3D compliant practices
• Raise funding for and execute any other AP interventions, as assigned by the EUDR Taskforce

• Report on the CU activities and outcomes to the EUDR/CS3D Taskforce and funding agencies.

Qualifications and competencies:
• Masters in Business administration,
• Agribusiness, Communication or a related area
• Analytical, creative and open-minded
• Over 8 years experience in managing complex projects in a commercial environment
• Capability to build a shared vision and consensus in a competitive sector

• Strong representative personality, with outstanding leadership qualities

• Ability to analyse and summarise complex technical and social-economic issues from literature and consultative meetings
• Ability to deliver clear and concise presentations and written reports

• Capacity to identify practical and innovative actions and solutions in the agribusiness sector.
