Program Officer-EVD (3- Wakiso, Kyaka II and Kyangwali)

Save the Children International is currently recruiting for a Program Officer-EVD. The EVD Program Officer will support with implementation response activities in any EVD outbreak locations in the respective locations. The post-holder will be involved in supporting the EVD Project coordinator in planning and ensuring quality and timely implementation of the response activities, accountability for all resources allocated to them, documentation and reporting of all activities.

Post outbreak declaration the EVD project Officer will switch to implementation of Preparedness activities at her/his duty station as per EVD Project coordinator guidance. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential:

  • A Bachelors Degree in the relevant field with at least 2 years of experience
  • Experience n Emergency response and preparedness
  • A good knowledge of working with local government and community structures.
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic planning abilities.
  • Computer literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.
  • Skills in development and use of behavioural change communication strategy for adolescent health programs.
  • Excellent time management and planning capacity.
  • Commitment to Save the Children values.

Desirable

  • Willingness to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous conditions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and perform effectively as a member of a team.
  • Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
  • Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an international environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Ability to intervene with crisis management or troubleshooting as necessary.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing, negotiation and coaching.
