JOB DETAILS:
Legacy Road Safety Initiative (LRSI), a local Non-for-Profit Organization founded to bring about transformation and safety to vulnerable road users is seeking for individuals to fill the positions of Program Manager and Finance and Administration Officer. These positions are attractive and call for self- motivated individuals who can have an immediate impact by taking the lead to enhance the organization and discipline in our project portfolio. He/She also must be able to strongly relate with our partners, government ministries and agencies to create successful impact.
About the Organization
LRSI was founded as a national NGO in 2018 to bring about transformation and safety to vulnerable road users especially the young people. We are fully registered by the government of Uganda under the Ngo Bureau registration and permitted to operate country wide.
Our mission is to advocate and promote road safety and sustainable mobility among young people. and our goal is to create a mindset change and inculcate road safety discipline among young people hence promoting youngster road safety ambassadors.
Program Manager
Summary of the Job
The Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspect of road safety programs and initiatives with the organization. He will lead a team of professionals, collaborate with stakeholders, and drive the strategic direction of the road safety projects and activities to reduce road crashes and promote safe practices on the road.
Role
• Develop and implement road safety program and activities in alignment with organization goals and objectives
• Manage a team under him to execute road safety initiatives effectively and efficiently
• Collaborate with government ministries, agencies, and other partners to advocate for road safety polices and regulations
• Conduct research and analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improving road safety
• Monitor and evaluate program and activities performance using key matrices and indicators to ensure effectiveness
• Prepare reports, presentations, and communications to management, stakeholders, funders, and the public
• Manage program and activity budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure projects, and activities are delivered on time and within budget
• Stay up to date on road safety best practices, trends, and innovations to drive continuous improvement
• Represent the organization at conferences, event, and meetings related to road safety.
Qualifications and Competences
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (e.g. Transportation, Public health, Urban Planning)
• Proven experience in program management, preferably in the road safety or transportation sector
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and trends
• Knowledge of road safety policies, regulations, and best practices
• Project management certification (e.g. PMP) is a plus
Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years
