Job Summary

Good Neighbors International Uganda is looking for suitably qualified staff to fill up the position of Program Manager; to provide technical expertise and lead the operations of our child sponsorship program and community development project ensuring high-quality service delivery and program effectiveness. The Program Manager will undertake the following tasks and responsibilities.

Job Description/Requirements

Program Management: Develop and implement child sponsorship programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and best practices. Ensure sponsorship resources are focused on strategic objectives while adhering to policies, standards, and procedures. Manage the program budget efficiently, covering WASH, Education, Health, and Environment. Monitor implementation, track progress, and adjust strategies as needed to meet annual schedules.

Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, schools, and beneficiaries. Facilitate community participation in program activities, ensuring children's voices are heard. Conduct needs assessments and evaluations to identify gaps and measure impact.

Sponsorship Management: Manage the sponsorship database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date sponsor and child information. Communicate regularly with the Country Director and International Headquarters (IHQ) on sponsorship updates. Address sponsor inquiries and concerns from IHQ professionally and in a timely manner.

Staff Supervision and Development: Supervise and mentor program staff, providing guidance and support. Build the capacity of field teams to implement sponsorship activities effectively. Promote a positive and supportive work environment.

Reporting and Documentation: Provide regular reports on program progress and challenges with actionable insights. Document program activities and lessons learned. Ensure accurate and up-to-date program records. Collect timely data in collaboration with local officers. Prepare and submit financial reports as required.

Other Responsibilities: Review sponsorship activities to maintain quality and identify improvements. Represent the organization at community events and meetings. Advocate for children's rights and well-being. Stay updated on best practices in child sponsorship and development. Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Country Director.

Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in International Development, Social Sciences, Social Work and Social Administration, Public Administration and Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A Master’s degree in any of these disciplines is an added advantage.

Relevant Experience, Skills, and Abilities: Minimum of 10 years of program management experience, preferably in an international NGO with a focus on sponsorship, child welfare, education, or international development. Proven track record in managing and leading diverse teams in dynamic environments. Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple projects with attention to detail. Experience in program and project management best practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborative work under pressure. Proven ability to deliver projects on time and within budget, utilizing risk management, benefits management, financial management, and quality assurance. Strong team leadership abilities to mobilize individuals beyond direct reporting lines. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Mandatory knowledge of Child Sponsorship Programming. Excellent oral and written communication skills in English. Fluency in Ateso/Lugwere is an added advantage.

Terms & Conditions: Full-time position (40 working hours per week), subject to a five-month probationary period. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, aligned with Good Neighbors’ Project Staff scale. Final terms and conditions will be discussed at the contract stage.
