Social & Scientific Systems, Inc (a DLH Company) is the USAID Uganda implementing partner for the Strategic Information Technical Information (SITES) Activity. SITES provides support to Government of Uganda, PEPFAR and implementing partners to facilitate, promote, and enhance evidence-based programming and reporting in Uganda's health system, particularly its response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic. This includes providing support for national monitoring and evaluation systems for the Health, HIV/AIDS and OVC programming. In addition, USAID SITES provides M&E and analytic support to the broader USAID Health program. USAID SITES also supports regional and district-based implementing partners in 86 districts to strengthen the national health and OVC systems.

Role Overview

We are looking for a professional corporate photographer with a proven track record in working with USAID programming. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in capturing high-quality images that reflect the mission, values, and impact of our projects. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work in diverse and dynamic environments.

Responsibilities

  • Photography Services: Provide professional photography services for events, field visits, and other relevant occasions.
  • Visual Storytelling: Create compelling visual narratives and captions that effectively communicate the goals and achievements of the project.
  • Photo Editing: Edit and retouch photographs and short videos to ensure high-quality, high-resolution results that meet USAID SITES standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the technical team, communications manager, and other stakeholders to understand project requirements and deliver visual content that aligns with project objectives.
  • Archive/backup Management: Organize and maintain a comprehensive archive/ of photographs, ensuring easy access and retrieval for future use.
  • Compliance: Ensure all photography adheres to USAID styles & marking guidelines and other relevant standards.

Qualifications

  • Technical Skills: Proficient in using professional photography equipment and software (e.g., Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom or similar editing tools ).
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional photography experience, with a focus on corporate and program-based work, preferably health.
  • USAID Experience: Demonstrated experience working on USAID-funded projects or similar international development programs.
  • Portfolio: Strong portfolio showcasing previous work in program and corporate photography.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal, written and communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills: Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Travel: Willingness and ability to travel to the field as needed.
  • Education: Degree with certification in photography, visual arts, or a related field.
  • Equipment: Must possess a professional camera & its accessories.
  • Language: Proficiency in English is required.

  • Ability to present a portfolio showcasing previous program photography sample.
