FLIP Africa is a digital marketplace addressing youth unemployment in Africa by connecting gig workers with micro- and small businesses. It offers a platform where clients can find, hire, and pay rated and verified professionals across various industries.
Position: Product Officer
Location: Kampala, Uganda
Reporting To: Country Manager FLIP and Head of Technology
About the Role
As the Product Officer, you will lead in deliver the product vision, strategy, and execution at FLIP Africa, a fast-growing digital freelance marketplace. You will be responsible for driving a product-led approach, setting a radical vision, and ensuring the seamless commercialization and scaling of digital products. This role requires deep expertise in digital transformation, strong project management and planning skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute a bold product vision that aligns with the company’s long-term strategic goals.
- Champion a product-led growth strategy, ensuring a strong market fit and user-centric approach.
- Translate business goals into a scalable and monetizable product roadmap.
- Lead digital transformation efforts to optimize the platform, improving efficiency, scalability, and user experience.
- Stay ahead of market trends, emerging technologies, and competitive landscapes to future-proof the product.
- Drive data-driven decision-making and leverage analytics to inform strategy.
- Oversee product monetization, pricing strategies, and revenue growth opportunities.
- Optimize conversion, retention, and engagement metrics using growth frameworks.
- Work closely with marketing, sales, and operations to ensure alignment on go-to-market strategies.
- Serve as the bridge between tech and a non-technical leadership team, effectively communicating the impact of product decisions.
- Align stakeholders around the product vision, ensuring buy-in and strategic execution.
- Oversee timely fixing of tech bugs regularly to ensure minimal downtime.
- Build and mentor a high-performing product team, fostering a culture of innovation and agility.
Requirements
Mandatory Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in product management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Proven experience in scaling digital marketplaces or platforms.
- Expertise in product-led growth, digital transformation, and commercialization strategies.
- Ability to work with and educate a non-technical leadership team on product and tech strategy.
- Strong experience in data-driven decision-making, UX/UI best practices, and agile methodologies.
- A track record of launching and growing successful products in competitive markets.
- Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.
Added advantage
- Experience with AI, automation, or Web3 technologies in digital marketplaces.
- Background in venture building, business model innovation, or fundraising strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in ICT, with knowledge of Web3 technologies. Certification in UX/UI, AI, or automation
