JOB DETAILS:
JOB PURPOSE: Reporting to the Manager – Product Development, the role holder will be responsible for conducting research and derive insights to identify changes/opportunities in the market. This person provides product improvements or new products by using Analytics.
Ultimately, the job holder will manage the enhancement of product offerings aligning with the business strategy and keeping dfcu Bank ahead of the competition.
LOCATION: Kampala

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Provide input into the development of product papers/business cases by working with the Product Management Team, subject matter experts and other stakeholders to perform business analysis and conduct customer research to support current and new product roadmaps supporting multiple business lines. Leverage technical acumen to understand the potential of new ways to reach customers in digital ecosystems. Plan and support business processes to identify go-to-market strategies for new products.
• Create and drive functional prototypes based on business specifications and analyse the feasibility of, and develop requirements for, new capabilities and enhancements to existing products; ensure that designs fit the business objectives. Explore new ways of improving existing services and products as a way of increasing profitability by monitoring and analysing market trends. Study competitors’ services and products. Identify and present creative and innovative product solutions.
• Provide product training, relevant product papers, printed and electronic promotional material and the necessary technical expertise to the sales team to enable them to sell the product.
• Define and execute new business concepts in emerging platforms (e.g. Robotics, Machine Learning, AI, Artificial intelligence, Automated voice applications).
• Build and develop fintech relationships and develop strategic partnerships with those who share the bank’s goal of continuous innovation and breakthrough thinking. Suggest workable solutions to development teams with consideration for product contracts, positioning, and market requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Computing, Commerce, Accounting or Business Statistics or a related field.
• Adept at Financial Technology & Innovation.
• Experience working with Agile Methodology is an added advantage.
• 3-5 years’ relevant work experience at a large financial services institution.
• Ability to prepare product papers / Business case.
• Ability to lead and inspire fintech teams that bring products to market faster than our competition is critical.
• Passionate about product innovation and improving consumer experience.
• Strong understanding of banking operations, FinTech, and product development trends.
• Familiarity with the financial services industry in Uganda.
• Strong understanding and experience in digital banking services.
• Experience collaborating with a team of programmers with varying skillsets.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to work in a rapid and iterative development environment
• Experience with data analytics and tagging concepts.
• Strong skills at relationship building.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively present. complex information clearly and appropriately handle sensitive information.
• Extremely organised, detail-oriented individual who is capable of self-managing and multi-tasking in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
