Lubaga Hospital Training School hereby invites interested and qualified individuals to send their applications for the post of Principal Tutor School of Physiotherapy.
Lubaga Hospital Training School has signed an MOU with Malteser International for improvement of the Rehabilitative healthcare through strengthening of the underseved sector of Physiotherapy in Uganda. Under this MOU funds have been allocated for Introduction of a Diploma Physiotherapy Course at Lubaga Hospital Training Schools.
The Principal Tutor School of Physiotherapy will provide leadership, guidance and technical oversight for the Diploma Physiotherapy Course. .

ABOUT US
Lubaga Hospital, founded in 1899 (incorporated as Uganda Martyrs Hospital Lubaga) is the second oldest hospital in the country. The facility is a Private-Not-for-Profit Hospital,owned by the Archdiocese of Kampala and accredited by the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau. The Hospital offers Out-Patient, Inpatient and Diagnostic services,
Internal medicine, Maternity and Antenatal care, Paediatrics, Surgery, Physiotherapy, Public Health, Clinical Research and undertakes training of human resources for health.

Lubaga Hospital has 250 beds and is undergoing transformation in accordance with the Strategic Plan in order to meet the aspirations of society and most importantly, to become a health facility of choice.
In response to the increasing demand for quality Training, Lubaga Hospital is seeking to recruit a highly qualified person to fill the position stated herein:

Job Title: Tutor in charge of Physiotherapy Training school
Department: Lubaga Hospital Training School
Reports Directly to: Principal Tutor
Responsible for: Tutors, Clinical instructors, mentors and Students

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Oversee the smooth running of the school of Physiotherapy Training School. The job holder is responsible for supervising, teaching and counseling of students in the school of Physiotherapy.
He/she is to uphold the integrity of the Institution and uphold Catholic values. He/she is to observe and instill the professional ethical code of conduct among the students and enhances high quality training in the school.

KEY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Oversee the smooth running of the school of Physiotherapist
2. Make school programs in collaboration with his staff and Principal Tutor
3. A resource person in matters pertaining to Physiotherapy education management
4. Keeps the Principal informed of all proceedings in the Physiotherapy Training School
5. Shall participate in the making of the annual school workplan, Budget, Report and Strategic plan.
6. Shall be responsible for teaching Physiotherapy students
7. Shall teach other disciplines in subjects related to his qualifications.
8. The Health Tutor shall do and retain all functions/duties of areas of his expertise and what his job will demand or dictates.
9. He will make duty roster of staffs in the school of Physiotherapy and inform the Principal Tutor.
10. Gives support supervision to students while in the clinical area.
11. Assist the Principal with her administrative duties.
12. A member of the Training School staff committee.
13. Carries out research as need arises.
14. Maintains regular contacts with Principal in view of securing a smooth running of the school.
15. Assist the Principal Tutor in the planning and implementation of school activities and programs.
16. He/she will be the Academic Registrar in the Physiotherapy school and will carry out the following tasks:
• Ensuring that school programs are made and enacted.
• Ensure that all students are academically and practically oriented.
• That curricula are followed according to each discipline’s demands.
• That students’ record books /cases are properly filled, marked, stamped on time.
• Is the contact person for students on academic matters
• Sets objectives and enlists skills to be gained by each student in each department when on practical experiences.
17. Performs any other duties which may be reasonably assigned from time to time.

EDUCATION & WORKING EXPERIENCE
a) Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Education with previous training in Physiotherapy or related field obtained from a recognized institution of Higher Learning.
b) At least five years (05) of progressively responsible and related professional experience obtained from an ethically recognized enterprise.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
Good Management skills
Ability to teach a number of core course in the physiotherapy area
Ability to handle students discipline
Plans, organise and prioritise work
Computer literate
Flexible

TERMS OF ENGAGEMENT FOR THE POSITIONS
Three years (03) Employment Contract renewable, subject on Performance.
