Job Title : Principal Education Officer – Guidance & Counselling

Reports To : Assistant Commissioner – Counselling and Guidance
Duties and Responsibilities
- Coordinating parents, community leaders and community social workers on matters related to the welfare of learners and their social wealth;
- Initiating, implementing and monitoring programs to support OVCs, child heads of families in their education endeavors;
- Conducting parental education and any other relevant programmes for the welfare of children, parents and guardians;
- Liaising with the Ministry responsible for Children Affairs and other Government Ministries/Departments/Agencies in formulation of policies and programs/plans for school social work activities;
- Undertaking any other duties assigned by the Assistant Commissioner.
Competencies
- Demonstrated ability in: Planning, organizing and coordinating policy and Strategy reviews, formulation and development; establishing and maintain strategic alliances and collaboration mechanisms;
leadership, teamwork and networking; Negotiations and Communicating effectively.
- Exposure and understanding/appreciation of issues of Technical Education management and development.
- Incumbent should be of high morals and integrity.
Qualifications and Work experience
- Either: An Honor's Bachelor's degree in Education plus a Postgraduate Diploma in Guidance and Counseling or Social Work Or An Honor's Bachelor's degree in Guidance and Counseling; Psychology; Social work plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Education.
- Registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports;
- At least six (6) years working experience, three (3) of which should have been at the level of Senior Education Officer in the field of Guidance and Counselling.
