Job overview
The Primary Art & Digital Skills Teacher will inspire and develop students' creativity, artistic expression, and digital literacy. The role will involve delivering high-quality art lessons and integrating digital skills into the primary curriculum to foster innovation, problem-solving, and confidence in using technology.
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching and Learning:
• Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in Art and Digital Skills across the primary school.
• Foster creativity and critical thinking through a variety of artistic mediums and digital tools.
• Develop cross-curricular links, ensuring that digital skills complement and enhance other areas of learning.
• Provide a stimulating classroom environment that celebrates student work and encourages artistic and digital exploration.
• Utilise technology to support and enhance learning experiences.
Curriculum Development and Innovation:
• Design and implement schemes of work for both Art and Digital Skills in alignment with the primary curriculum.
• Ensure digital skills progression from Early Years to Upper Primary, covering areas such as coding, digital design, and multimedia creation.
• Integrate emerging technologies and digital platforms to enhance teaching and learning.
• Collaborate with colleagues to incorporate digital literacy across subjects.
Assessment and Reporting:
• Monitor and assess students' progress in Art and Digital Skills, providing constructive feedback and next steps.
• Prepare and deliver reports to parents on students' achievements and development.
• Maintain accurate records of students’ progress and contribute to the school's data tracking systems.
Pastoral and Professional Responsibilities:
• Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment, promoting student well-being and confidence.
• Participate in school-wide events, exhibitions, and projects to showcase students' artistic and digital achievements.
• Contribute to extra-curricular activities and clubs, enhancing the creative and digital opportunities available to students.
• Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on best practices in Art education and digital learning tools.
• Uphold school values, policies, and safeguarding procedures at all times.
Person Specification:
Qualifications and Experience:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Education (with specialisation in Art, ICT, or relevant subject) or a related field.
• Teaching qualification (PGCE or equivalent).
• Experience teaching Art and/or Digital Skills at primary level, preferably in an international school setting.
• Experience integrating technology into classroom practice.
Skills and Attributes:
• Passion for Art, digital innovation, and student-centred learning.
• Strong classroom management skills with the ability to inspire and motivate students.
• Proficiency in relevant software, coding platforms, and digital tools for education.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, and parents.
• Organised, adaptable, and committed to ongoing professional growth.
Desirable:
• Experience with STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) initiatives.
• Familiarity with international curricula such as the IPC (International Primary Curriculum) or British curriculum.
• Experience in coordinating school exhibitions, art shows, or digital showcases.
